New fridge getting hot on both outsides after being switched on first time
Was the fridge transported and offloaded in the upright position? If no, then leave the fridge in it's new position but keep it switched off for 24 hours. If yes, then be shure not to stock you fridge before switching it on. You should switch it on and leave the doors closed for at least 2 hours before you start stocking the fridge. It is normal for some fridges to get warm on the sides, because the pipe works run on the side. But if it gets too warm after the fridge has been running for a day or so then please contact your manufacturer.
Hope this answers your question..

How do I drain the water out of the fridge for the winter so it won't freeze

my answer
You don't really need to as everything is insulated. Is this at a cottage or something? Better to install a frost-stat heater.

"It's a cottage and installing a heater is not a good option as the cottage gets well below zero"
My further advice
a frost stat heater only cuts in to keep the temperature at 34'F. You only put the heater in the kitchen and bathroom. Has your bathroom ever had frozen pipes? If not, then the kitchen isn't going to either. You can of course drain all of the pipes, even removing the feed from the fridge and lowering it into a pail. Remove the icemaker and water dispenser rear cover and remove the drain plugs.
