It can be caused by two things.

A faulty power supply board.

Overheating.

If it is concerning you, take it to a service engineer for your make of television.

SOURCE: My 42 inch samsung dlp tv keeps powering off on it's own. Why???

try tightening the screw on the lamp door. on mine the heat of the unit would loosen the contact which would shut the TV down.

SOURCE: Our tv keeps shutting itself off.

this is a protective shutdown. it can be anything inside, but you can narrow it down. there are green LEDs inside, one for each voltage line. if one doesn't come up, that can be your shorted out voltage line. if you have a multimeter, you can ohm out all the fuses and see which one is blown to follow it to your failure. they are chemical fuses and you cant see if they're blown. either way, its going to be a somewhat tricky repair, and if you cannot solder or have a multimeter, best to leave to the pros. some of these just need 1 fuse and 1 cap, so it could be cheap, never know till you dive in. warning, this tv produces 30,000 volts so be careful.

If it is a new TV and under warranty, return it. There is an internal fault and it needs to be serviced.

My sony kdf-60wf655 keeps shutting off on its own.what is the problem and can i fix it myself

If tv turns back on itself after shut down then it is weak lamp problem, replace lamp in tv to fix its problem.
Buy Sony original lamp for good picture in tv and replace it as it is user level repair and lamp replacement procedure is mentioned in related user manual.
If standby light start blinking after shut down, let me know how many times it blinks after three second pause to provide you info about possible cause of problem.
Thanks.

My TV shuts itself down by itself

Poer supply is the cause of the shutdown and would need to be replaced. These cost around $150 bucks just in parts the labor you would need to find someone that knows just what there doing or you could wind up into the hundreds, Thanks

Tv shuts itself down

This is due to bad caps read here what a cap is www.badcaps.net see you tv is getting hot as normal but the caps cannot stand it any more thus shutting the tv down. The bad caps would be more or less in the power supply unit of this TV. So you can buy a new psu or get it repaired by a expert.

Keeps turning off by itself after about 30 minutes

Is your air intake clean or clogged.. Maybe it's overheating causing it to shut off.. Had the same problem didn't replace the bulb but cleaned the intake and it works great again. Worth a try.. Intake is located on the left back pannel of the tv.. outside pannel pops off easly.
