My Mother bought an Onn TV. I set it up. Everthing eoks great except for a black bar down the middle of the screen. Help please.

This can be caused by one of the buffer boards or the digital board. This is something a tech would have to repair. You can expect a costly repair so be sure to get an est. before you let them fix it.

It sounds like an Intergrated Circuit (IC) has fried.
Your best bet in this situation is to contact ur tv service operator and let them recommend an authorized service center in your area....

Do the icons appear around the image? If so, maybe the front lens shutters are stuck?

Can you see what's on the screen if you hold it under a light? Did the screen die suddenly or were there more symptoms?

The line is there because the vertical deflection unit - the one that spreads that line across the entire screen to form the image - has failed. Replacing it is a job for a professional, or at least an experienced amateur, and the parts will be quite difficult to find for such an old tv .
