How can I reset?

Paper jam indicated. I pulled out a full sheet of paper and don't see any small pieces left behind. I've tried unplugging, turning off and on, pressing reset button but the paper jam is still there preventing me from printing.

Make sure that there aren't any tiny pieces of paper stuck in any of the rollers or gears. This can cause that as well.

How to fix a false paper jam on an HP printer

They have sensors throughout the paper path.

Remove;
the paper draws
open the sides or back
open the straight pass door
remove the toner cartridge(s)

Get a good flashlight, and look for paper, or a small torn off piece from a jam. This happens a lot in commercial office machine. Someone gets a jam, they grab the jammed sheet and yank it out. The paper tears and a piece is left behind. They try to print something else and it gives the error. They shake their head and walk off and don't say anything because they 'broke' the printer. Number1 tip, pull jammed paper carefully with two hands, keep it flat, check the sheet to make sure it is intact.

The office machine at work would concertina paper at the rear straight pass door. No one ever found it but me :>)

Canon copier ir 2420 has a false paper jam

Copier paper jam indicators can at times be tricky. Ok so on the last paper jam did you have to Rip the paper out in little pieces?
* If so look that the little finger on the switch where the jam was didn't get broke and therefor in a jam position.
* If the switch looks good paper dust is another problem if you can blow it out with a puff air get a can of compressed air and clean out because it's an OPTICAL switch looking for light passing across when a jam happens it closes the path and a jam is indicated.
* look for pieces of torn paper in other areas that are also causing the paper jam fault.
* Make sure all doors are closed tightly and as always try turning off and on.
Now if it's pulling doubles from the tray.

** Fan Paper before putting into the tray, this does 2 things get rid of static attraction to the sheet above and also helps get rid of small dust particles that cause problems. A can of compressed air and a vacuum helps do some PM work.
* You could have dirty pickup wheels, they need to be replaced periodically but if you have been printing on pre-printed or 2 sided sheets then a simple cleaning may need to be done. One way is to put a couple of sheeting of clean white paper in the tray, Moisten (Dampen) with 99% rubbing alcohol (70% will not work), you get this usually behind the counter in a pharmacy no script needed. It won't feed the wheels will rub and by doing so they clean themselves. remove and do again till no more rub marks come off on the moistened sheet "Now Just Dampen no dripping wet! " this will help extend service calls.

Hope I helped.

Sharp copier

1) turn machine off or on
2) get a flashlight and look for torn pieces of paper wedged anywhere in the paper path
3) clicking indicates that something is trying to turn but cant because it is stuck
4) dust on a photo sensor
5) broken flag that activated the photo sensor
6) look for turn knobs or release tabs that will let you ease paper out of the machine. Yanking on the sheet with brute force is always a bad idea because the sheet tears and always leaves something behind to get stuck

Paper jam showing red light

did you get a full sheet of paper back out when you removed the jam? If not there is still a small piece of paper in the machine. You will need to get a flashlight and look carefully in the center of the path from where the paper starts (the paper tray) to where it comes out when it is done. if you cannot find any do this: best if you open and close all doors and lids. even the doors behind the printer if there is one. If that does not help try this: Turn off the printer, unplug, count to 10 then plug back in and restart. If the light is still on then light is saying a sensor is seeing a piece of paper or thinks it does. It is possible while you pulled the paper out you pulled a sensor flag out of its holder. By pulling the paper out opposite the paper moves through the machine can cause this. always try and remove a jam with the flow of paper, in other words the same direction the paper travels not backwards. Once fixed can prevent this failure in the future.

Paper jam - I can see the jam, but don't know how to remove the paper.

Hello

Open the top cover of the printer.

If you can see the jammed paper, take one or more sheets of paper and pull them toward you.

While pulling the paper, press the RESUME button to turn the paper feed rollers.

If the paper needs to be fed in the opposite direction, release the RESUME button and then press it again.

If the paper is still jammed, turn the printer off or remove the power cord from the printer. Then turn the printer back on or plug the power cord in.

The printer will run through a reset cycle, which may clear the paper jam.

If the paper is still jammed or if several (8 to 10) sheets are jammed, take hold of a sheet in the middle of the stack using both hands.

With firm, even pressure, pull the sheet toward you.
Usually, removing one or two sheets from the middle of the stack will release the pressure and the rest of the stack can be removed.

Make sure no scraps of paper are left in the printer.

Close the top cover of the printer.

Try printing again.

I had a paper jam a few days ago. Turned printer off then cleared jam and when I turned it on again it still had the E3 error code indicating it is still jammed. There is no paper in it anywhere. I have...

Check the paper feed tray for bent papers. Also, try blowing over the sensors to clear any debris. Check for small pieces that may have been left behind. If all fails, unplug it from the outlet, then start it up. Good luck!

A single sheet of paper has jamed, can not release it.

Clearing a paper jam

If the paper jams in the printer, follow the steps below to clear the jam:

Remove the paper stack from both paper trays.

Press the POWER button. Instead of turning off, the printer will try to eject the jammed sheet.

If the printer cannot eject the paper, unplug the power cord from the back of the printer.

NOTE: Do not press the POWER button again before unplugging the power cord.

Open the rear access door at the back of the printer. To do this, press the handle to the right and then pull out the door.

Remove the jammed paper. Make sure no small pieces or obstructions remain.

Reattach the rear access door and plug the power cord back into the printer.

The printer will turn on automatically and be ready for printing again.

Reload the paper in the IN tray.

Try printing again.

It says the paper is jammed, but there's no paper in it!!

This is an awesome printer. Did you know it can duplex (print on both sides of the paper) automatically? The jam "could" be in the duplexer on the back or, the duplexer unit isn't locked into place.

Unplug the printer and open the rear door, check for visible paper jam, remove, close door.

There's also access to the feed mechanism from the bottom of the printer.

Unplug printer.

(1) Remove the Cassette. (paper tray on bottom of printer)

If the paper is loaded in the Auto Sheet Feeder (on back of printer), remove the paper from the Auto Sheet Feeder and close the Paper Support.
(2) Stand the machine with the left side down.
(3) Slowly pull the jammed paper out while pulling the green cover toward you.

Caution
Set the machine back to its original position immediately after removing the jammed paper.
(4) If any paper is sticking out of the Cassette, reload the paper in the Cassette.
Reload paper in the Auto Sheet Feeder, if necessary.
(5) Insert the Cassette into the machine.
(6) Press the OK button on the machine.

OKI C5100 printer repeated jams. Usually flashing the code of "380: paper jam" as the message.

I too kept getting the front cover paper jam despite followings Oki's paper jam removal instructions and blowing out the printer with compressed air.
In my case, the paper drawer was the problem.  When you pull out the drawer there is a spring loaded piece of white plastic at the very front of the drawer.  In the center of that is a gray rubber strip.  That strip had come loose in the center and bowed out, preventing paper from exiting the paper drawer.  I manually removed the strip, clipped off a little piece from one end so that it fit back in the recessed cavity on the white plastic piece and glued it back down.
This should be applicable to all Oki c5xxx color LED printers.
