SOURCE: have sound and no picture

You've got a bad solder conetion,or broken foil line,s on the pcb (printed circuit board).Narrow it down by pressing in different places,or use plastic or rubber tip.If not, then you got a shorted load on this fuse and diode.do you have a schematic, whats at the end's of this circuit.D represents a not a transistor.

What is causing this problem and how can I fix it cheap. I can afford a TV repair man at this time, because I am laid off from work. Thanks.

My Toshiba 50 A 50 rear projection has great sound but no picture. Can you help tell me if I need a fuse or bulb?

This TV does not use a bulb. It is a Picture tube type set.
*No picture but there is a dim background. Menu works.
This is caused by a bad signal. Perhaps the video cable is bad if you use a cable box. The HDMI cable may not be working right. Try a new cable.
*No picture, no menu
This could be caused by a failure in the part that draws the picture up and down (The vertical). Can also be the side to side (Horizontal) or a high voltage problem. The last usually kills the sound as well so its not as likely.
If the cable does not fix it, you will likely need a technician.
