If by the "ball" you're referring to the type of flow gauge that works by a stream of gas pushing up a small plastic ball in a clear tube or drilled piece of clear plastic, then the ball is either stuck somehow (moisture in its tube might do that by causing some friction), or it's showing there's no flow of oxygen enriched air, meaning the concentrator itself is not working. Can you feel some air flow if you hold the outlet towards the skin on your cheek?

SOURCE: owners manual for Invacare mobilaire-v oxygen concentrator

This definitely should not be used until it is serviced. There are (or should be) two black foam filters on either side. Simply remove any attachments and the screws along the bottom of the cover. The cover will lift off. Vacuum out the unit, get rid of all dust and particles. You will see an upright somewhat cylindrical filter. It will unscrew from the bottom. Remove and replace. The new filter will have the holes in it covered with stickers. Different stickers are removed and uncovering holes based on the model you are using. The filter will have the directions on the stickers. There is also a smaller round diaphragm-like filter beside the previous filter and behind the control panel. Remove holding clamps, pull it free of the tubing and replace.

Replacement filter kits are available online. I usually get mine from HD Supply. Individual filters are available but I usually get the kit, the exception being the outside filters will need to be cleaned or replaced more often. I check the inside filters every 6 months or less.

SOURCE: I am having trouble charging an invacare portable

the plug in unit is probably drawing more amps than the lighter socket will cater for. Check that the fault is not in the unit. Check for total current draw of the machine. As a last resort use the machine directly coupled to the battery

Alliance Healthdyne oxygen concentrator alarm doesn't stop when turning the unit on.

There are parts inside that machine that have fixed hour ratings. When they are needing to be replaced, that machine has to be serviced. Since it is not an over the counter device, you need to contact a medical specialty vendor and have it worked on. There is no parts available.

Invacare Platinum XL unit goes into alarm mode & shuts off.

Hello there, various reasons abound to cause this problem. The first is unit overheating due to blocked air intake. To solve this remove and clean cabinet filters. Move oxygen concentrator at least three inches away from walls, draperies or furniture.
Secondly insufficient power at outlet. DO NOT use extension cords. Move to another electrical outlet or circuit.
Thirdly is low oxygen purity. Clean or Replace filters.
Fourth, kinked or blocked tubing, cannula or humidifier.Inspect for kinks or blockages. Correct, clean or replace item. Once corrected, turn power OFF for 60 seconds and then turn power back ON.
Fifth, flowmeter set too low:0.5 L/min (or less) for Platinum 5; 1.0 L/min (or less) for Platinum 10. Check flowmeter is set to 1.0 L/min. or more.
I after all these the problem persists then Internal repairs are required on the unit and you need to call a service provider. To do this call Technical Services on 800-832-4707 toll free.

P-B Companion 590 Oxygen Concentrator is beeping. What should we check and fix to repair the unit? Can you provide a link to the manual or troubleshooting guide for this unit? Thank you for your...

When these units are beeping it indicates they are basically not running. So you first need to ensure who ever is using it has access to o2 if they require. There isn't much you can do to fix these at home. You can first try going over the following. Not really that helpful but might help you sort it out. If you can't spot anything obvious ie unplugged no power etc then first contact anyone local such as the medical supply place. That would get you the fastest repair or help. If you don't have one of those to call then don't be afraid to call the 1-800 number below and ask the company.
The local company or even your doctor might be able to help you get bottled O2 while your unit is getting fixed.

If there is an audible alarm -- concentrator is not running: • Is unit plugged into a working outlet? • Check circuit breaker -- Right side of unit, behind a small door on the Companion 590 and 429a -- Back of the unit on the Companion 492 -- Between the on/off switch and flow meter
If there is an audible alarm -- concentrator is running: • Concentrator cannot be fixed by consumer • Call 314.362.0720 or toll-free 800.456.9366
There is a visual alarm on the Companion 590 with oxygen concentration indicator: • Green Light -- Normal -- Oxygen concentrations are correct • Yellow Light -- Below Normal -- Oxygen concentrations have fallen below an acceptable level • Red Light -- Not Operating -- Oxygen is no longer being produced; audible alarm will sound and concentrator will shut down

Is it usual for the concentrator to take as long as 15 minutes to come up to normal oxygen when concentrator has been off for 30 minutes? Does the warning sound and lite also come on them?

That is not normal operation. You need to contact a service or support rep from Fujitsu or contact the company you purchased the unit from.

These should produce oxygen within a few seconds of being turned on and be up to full flow in well under a minute. That is going to vary by model but 15 minutes is too long.

Unit has only 6000 hours, Works fine for about an 1/2 hour, then signals low oxygen. Turn off and back on, repeats.

Make sure flow rate is greater than 1LPM and no more than 5LPM. May need filters changed or possibly new sieve beds.

Other than not passing or producing oxygen flow is it possible for a concentrator to produce carbon monoxides or other gasses? After looking at and reading the information provided on your site it seems...

You are correct. This concentrator is oxygen specific. Therefore it only concentrates the oxygen, not other gasses. Joe
