Blue light blinking, tank full, water not heating up

We just bought the Sirena and have set up per instructions. Blue light will not stop blinking, tank is full and the water is not heating up. We are stuck. Thoughts?

You need to prime the machine with water. Fill the water tank. Plug the machine in and turn the power on. Instructions state the lights will flash, but they won't. Blue water drop will illuminate indicating the machine is empty (the water tank is full, but the pipes in the machine are empty until you do the following). Place a cup under the steam wand, and rotate the steam knob fully to the "on" position (fully clockwise as you view it from the side until you hit the hard stop). No need to use force, just rotate until you hear the pump turn on. At this point, you'll hear a pump running, and after 10-30 seconds, water will be ejected from the wand. Continue until the blue light goes out and you're ready to brew. At this point, I think the lights flash and it comes up to temp. One more thing, when using the steam wand, always turn the knob until the pump engages, or you run the risk of emptying the water line. Hope this helps and enjoy!

Solution #1 is correct. But I'd like to further add that at least on mine, the blue light continued to stay on. It needs to go off before the machine can start heating. I turned the machine off and on and that didn't help. Finally, I just assumed it needed to know that there was water in the tank, so I took the water tank back out, placed it back in, turned it on and voila...heating!

So for everyone having this problem (and apparently there are alot posting this question right now), let's review the steps:

1. Fill water tank.
2. Turn machine on.
3. Blue water light will blink.
4. Get a cup and put below steam knob.
5. Turn steam knob fully on (clockwise)
6. You will hear a machine noise, keep going...
7. Fill the cup with about 4 oz of water. I kept filling the cup until the water stopped coming out and the noise stopped.
8. Turn the steam knob back.
9. At this point, the blue light on mine stayed on, maybe it will turn off on yours? If not, turn machine off.
10. Pull out water tank and then replace.
11. Turn machine back. The blue light should be off now and the single and double orange lights should be on. Now it should heat up.

I must say that Saeco's directions are a little fuzzy and good luck calling this weekend (Thanksgiving), they are closed.

Now on to making some espresso...

The water tank may just be a little "uneven" in back. Tap it a little and jiggle it_ see if it goes off then.

Starbucks sirena won't heat up; blue light flashing-brand new

johnshami had this solution on another post, and it worked for us:
  1. make sure the water in the tank is stone cold -- which is a no brainer since it will not heat h2o unless it's primed.
  2. take off steamer wand cover, turn the steamer knob clockwise till pump starts.
  3. then s*ck (as you would on a straw, with your lips sealed around the end of the steamer wand) the tip of the end of the metal tip hard until pump stops
  4. may need to do it a couple of times. yes this seems crazy, but it works! you are flushing out the vapor lock in the pump.

Starbucks sirena lights won't turn on

Just had this happen. Finally I let water run through the steam wand (thought it had to heat up first). Water ran through (until blue light stopped blinking) and now the other lights are blinking...we will see if it works now.

The blue light is blinking, the water tank is full, but the water isn't heating up at all. should we return it? Or is there something that we missed? We followed the instructions and are getting no where.

blinking light means the water circuit requires priming.
1 - press power button.
2 - place a cup under steamer and turn on full.
3 - turn steam off when blue light stops blinking (probably a few ounces of water in your cup).
4 - you're ready to rock!

Blinking blue light won't shut off even when the water is full

you need to prime the machine. if the instructions for priming don't work (as they didn't for us), then try this:

My sirena does not work

anytime the water runs out and you need to refill the tank, you need to bleed the line so to speak. Take an empty cup and put it under the wand and open the knob of the steam wand until the blue light stops flashing
