2 20 volt b&d trimmers quit after using for a while and stopping to rest.

Put a fresh battery in each one after weedeater and I had cooled down but neither one would run again.

My initial guess is that the unit overheated and cooked the motor. It not unheard of, especially if you were using it hard.

SOURCE: Poulan 17'' Gas Weedeater keeps dying!

Hello su2yak2:

From your Description it Sounds like the Exhaust Port or Muffler is Restricted with Carbon Deposits, the Carburetor Metering Pump Actuator Gap is Incorrect.
>>The Following is a Basic Instruction File for Doing a Diagnostic on the Engine for this Problem. Any Input is Appreciated.
>>**Remove the Muffler and Make Sure the Exhaust Port is Clear.
>>If it is, then Try to Start the engine with the Muffler Off.
>>If it Starts and Runs Properly, then Clean the Spark Arrestor Screen in the Muffler or Replace the Muffler if Required.
Is the Fuel Line from the Fuel Filter Staying Full of Fuel?
The Carburetor Metering Jet Actuator is Set so the Pump Diaphram Dowl is Just Touching the Actuator Arm. These Components are Located Under the Cover with 4 Small Screws Holdong it to the Carburetor Body.
Please, Do Not Hesitate, If you Hit a Snag or this Does Not Correct the Problem, I am Here if You Require More Assistance.
Hope this Helps. Let me Know What Happens, Please. May the All Mighty Bless You and Yours. Be Safe and Be Happy. Thanks.

Good Luck

Respectfully

SOURCE: RV air conditioner. Compressor running, fan stops before cool

The fan motor is getting hot and going off on the internal overload in the motor.
This is caused by either a low voltage, a bad capacitor, or tight or dry bearings in the motor.
To check the bearings turn the power off to the unit, then spin the fan blade if it spins freely then the bearings are ok.
To check the capacitor you will need some kind of tester or you can buy a capacitor and replace it, that's what a lot of people do. They usually don't cost very much.
To check the voltage you will need a voltmeter and measure the volts at the unit.

SOURCE: Ryobi edger, trimmer, weedeater was working fine

If the trimmer has fire, (spark) Then:

check the fuel lines for cracks/breaks. If they are o.k., then:

You will need to disassemble the carburetor and spray with carb.cleaner. Make sure the small screen is free of debris. (Should be able to see daylight through it.) Use a Den Tek Brush, (http://www.drugstore.com/products/prod.asp?pid=165357&catid=1152), to clean the small portals in carb. These portals can become blocked. Reassemble and start.

If you need further assistance, just let me know.

SOURCE: Hedge trimmer starts fine then stops after 5 minutes

Carburetor high speed adjustment ( screw nearest the filter ) open ( counterclockwise ) 1/2 turn.
Adjust again as needed to run when hot.
make sure the gas mixture ratio is as required.

SOURCE: Troy-Bilt TB70SS will not start

Hi. Go to any auto parts store and get a can of starter fluid. Have a helper squirt a little into the air cleaner while u start it up. Then continue to squirt the starter fluid to keep it running until the engine sounds good again. J.

How to start

Full choke until it tries to start, half choke until it does, and once it's running, open the choke fully and wait a few seconds for it to warm up before using it, as well as 15-20 seconds to let it cool down before shutting it off so as not to warp any metal parts of the engine

Electric ryobi weedeater with good battery won't start

Ryobi Trimmers unscrew halfway down the shaft (so it fits in the box). If this gets loose, the trimmer will stop working. Simply tighten the connection between the upper and lower half.

My 10 year old weedeater hedge trimmer ran fine last year when I put it away for the season. When I tried to start it this year it wouldn't even fire. I put fresh fuel mix in and a new spark plug and...

I would check for spark and check the fuel lines, especially if fuel is left in it. Also if fuel left in you will have to empty the lines and carburetor or pull it enough to clear. Another thing to consider is that if fuel was left in it that the carburetor may need a rebuild, replacing the diaphrams.

I hope this is helpful for you.

My trimmer wont start. thought it was battery put a new one in worked for a few minutes and then stopped working

your batteries aren't charging fully, check them fully charged with a volt meter,, fully charged they should have a reading of 18.5 volts, if not they are not charging, and either the batteries have used up their life, or your charger is on its way out

My battery will not keep a charge it don't last 10 minutes/ i like the weedeater but it just don't last long enouh

I had one of these a while ago, the batteries are just cheap. Trimmers also use a lot of energy and battery powered ones aren't the best way to go if you want them to run a long time. I highly recommend replacing it with a good gas or plug in model from your local hardware store, they can help you find the right one to fit your budget. If you don't want to get a new trimmer you are going to be fighting dying batteries every year.

Weedeater gas edger won't start!!!!!!!!!

yes, there is a spark module, but it's highly unlikely that two would have a bad module - more than likely, it is your gas mix. it must be fresh for the engine to run. the gas we have today will go bad in about a month and a half. if you happen to live in an area that has E85, forget it. small engines will not run very long, if at all on this junk. in some areas, you can get gas without alcohol, but it can only be used for lawn & garden equipment. it's expensive, but your engines will run
