SOURCE: Mounting a sonor/transducer on a MinnKota Riptide ST

Did the unit come with a strap to mount the transducer to a bow mount electric? Most units do... If not there is probably one available for the unit as an aftermarket accessory or accessory from the manufacturer... Regarding the transducer wire, just wrap and rout this up the front of the bow mount motor shaft so when you pull the motor up and secure it, it is not going to get in the way. You could cable tie the cord down near the bottom of the shaft and one up near the top where they wont interfere with the motor bracket when the motor is positioned up on the boat.

SOURCE: I have a Lowrance LMS

Hi, well the best thing to do is to add suppressors to your spark plug leads, OR get Suppressive Spark Plugs, themselves, (Recomended) and Capacitors on ALL Positive Connections to Earth
I recommend , 0.1uF 500 V AC CERAMIC, or Axial Polyester Capacitors.
Capacitors DO NOT conduct DC, therefore, ONLY the AC "Hash" component of the signal is affected. the AC flows through, the capacitor, and then to earth.
Also make sure you Earth connections are good and robustly attached, to clean metal surfaces, and then cover with Petroleum Jelly.
You can get suppression Capacitors from almost any Car Electrical place or a Auto Electrician. They are easy to fit, and make a huge difference.
You need to do it, on the Coil, the Distributor and all spark plug leads too.
Another good thing to do as well, is to convert your car to a "Points-less distributor" Usually one can retro-fit a Sensor in place of the Points, this makes a remarkable difference. Of course some cars already have it.
Again with any thing that's using a Shielded Cable, (Coaxial Cable), then, add capacitors at each end, of the cable, put a Capacitor, from the "Shield" to Earth, at each end. Then any signals "Induced" into the "Shield" will again be routed to earth.

SOURCE: Sonar is working erratically. Loses

I have a very similar problem. Unfortunately my boating season is over until next May. I found I was at software rev 2.30 and should be at 3.40 Some of the software updates were to resolve sounder problems.

How to install wiring

Start at the transducer, mount it then pull the transducer wiring forward using a wire snake. At the same time pull forward 14ga wire to attach to your power leads.
on most boats I've done this process takes from 90 minutes to 3 hours.
The transducer and head unit are easy to put on. Getting wire from point A to point B is the time consuming part.
Once you have your wires pulled forward route them to your head unit at your console. Drilling of access holes may be required.

Connect power, plug in the transducer line.
Black to negative at the battery, red to positive, don't forget to put in the in line fuse included in your box.

Good luck.

How to adjust depth

Any sonar system, regardless of frequency used (at least in kiloHertz), has limits.
If you lower it to the floor, does it ever go below 7'?
If you raise it above your head, does it then indicate something taller than you can reach?

Y cant i mount my structure scan transducer on the bottom of the boat

This is what the manual says:
The StructureScan transducer can be mounted on the transom,
jackplate, step or directly to your boat's hull.
When mounting it directly to the hull, you must purchase a high-
quality, marine grade above- or below-waterline sealant/adhesive
compound.

I getting ready to order a 1197 unit. The box states that it has the in dash mounts. Do you know if the unit comes with the knobs & u bracket to mount unit on side of concol? Thanks

It does come with everything in the box you need to rig your boat. If you are going to rig it on a fiberglass boat I would mount the Side Imaging transducer right under the jackplate and make sure you can see from side to side without anything blocking it on either side of the transducer. Then I would epoxy a transducer (XP 9 20) in the hull of the for high speed readings and then use a Y cable (AS SIDB Y) to tie the 2 transducer together.

Built in transducer is not picking up/transferring depth to graph

I havew a Minn Kota trolling motor on a Z21 Ranger. Minn Kota has a built in (puck type) transducer on the motor. I have a lowrance 135x on the front. The lowrance will read the temp but will blink the depth. I switched out the depth finder with another 135x with the same results. I have a 522c gps unit networked together and mounted on the console that works fine. Any suggestions on the problem with the 135x?
