Water spilled on PDA

Recently water was spilled on my PDA. I let it dry out thoroughly and now when I press the reset button, the Palm logo comes on but I can't get it do anymore than that. When I put it in the cradle, it indicates it makes a connection there. Is it time to replace it or can it be salvaged?

I've had some water damage (minor spill) recently and once it dried out the screen was fine but now it won't Hot Sync. When in the cradle it seems happy to accept the power so teh battery charges but it just won't sync, just keeps saying a connection could not be established.

I can't get the Palm z22 to come back on after it ran out of power and I recharged it. This is the second time it has done this and I can't remember what i did before to get it started again. just...

If your data from your handset has been syncronized recently, try a hard reset. NOTE: Just be aware that your handset data may be deleted:

  1. Press and hold the power button.
  2. While holding the power button, use the tip of the stylus (or a similar object
without a sharp tip) to gently press and release the reset button inside the hole on the back of your handheld.
  3. Wait for the Palm Powered™ logo to appear, and then release the power button.
  4. When you see the message that warns you about erasing all of the info on your handheld, do one of the following:
    • Press Up on the 5-way navigator to finish the reset and show the touchscreen.
    • Press any other button to do a soft reset.
  5. When prompted, tap to align the screen, and then select the language you want to use on your handheld. A screen appears showing the Palm logo and a progress bar.
Hope this helps.

My Palm tungsten E2 hand held PDA is totally frozen and locked up

Best thing to do here is to remove any memory cards etc.. and do a hard reset - seems like soft reset will or has not worked...

Press and hold the power button - keep it pressed and gently press the reset button on the back of the handheld.
Wait for the Palm Powered logo to appear and release the power button.
You should get a message warning about erasing all data. Press up on your 5-way navigator to reset.

This will erase all data inlcuding user information from the device, but synchronizing should get it all back - but you will loose anything that was not recently sync'd

good luck

My return key is not functioning on my apple keyboard.

Buy a new keyboard. They are cheap. One possible solution is to allow the keyboard to thoroughly dry and try it. You can pry up the key and look and see if it needs to be dusted out with some air, or cleaned of whatever was spilled on it. Perhaps alcohol on a Qtip on the moving parts. Not sure what "something" splashed on it. Root beer? Water? Big difference. I would visually inspect, try to dust, then clean with alcohol. Let it dry thoroughly and give it a shot. Short course, buy a new monitor. Good luck.

Water spilled on palmone

May still be good. Let it dry out for at least a week in a low humidity place but not so that it gets hot. After a week plug it into your charger and hit the reset button and see what happens. It may need a little longer to dry out if it doesn't boot up.

Hot Synch an existing PalmVx data to a replacement palmVx

HI,
The first thing you want to do is to do a Hard Reset on the used PDA that you bought as a replacement. To do that follow these steps:

1. Hold down the power button and then depress the small hole in the back with the tip of your stylus.

2. Continue to hold them both in until you see the Palm logo.

3. Let go of both of them and then follow the onscreen directions. You will want to answer yes and use the 5 way navigation button on the bottom of your pda and hit up so that is completes the reset. After that you will have to set up your touch screen and go through the tapping the target. After you have gone through all this then do a hotsync2.gif. It should clear up your problem. Best wishes.

Will not shut off

I recalled a problem a few years ago with my PDA and the solution (from Palm while still under warranty) was to do a HARD RESET of the unit.

Please note that a hard reset will wipe clean all memos and other information stored in your PDA. Make sure you HOTSYC your PDA before doing a hard reset. It will reset the unit back to its original factory setting. The way to accomplish this is by holding down the on/off switch while pressing the reset button on the back of your PDA. It will respond back by asking if you really want to reset (yes or no).

I did this and now I can turn off my PDA without worrying about it coming back on. Now all I have to do is figure out what in the old config (that's now backed up on the desktop backup) is freaking out the PDA and causing it to not turn off. Chances are it's a software that was recently added.

Hope this helps!

Good Luck and Happy New Year!

Palm TX Handheld - Delete all records

Hi, the best option would be a hard reset. Before doing so, i would suggest doing one lase hotsync.

at the back of your pda, there is a reset button. press this. be prepared. as it is resetting, press and hold the power button as well as the up button. hold these for like 3 seconds then release. it will then ask you whether you wanted to reset it. press the up button once again and release. it will then reset the pda.

if these instructions are still difficult there are some at palm.com. best of luck.

Water damage; time for the graveyard?

I think the cost of a mobo and battery would end up costing more than a brand new pda.

If you are handy with a soldering iron, check the solder points for the battery and the ac port....don't know if they could have rusted or even lifted because of the water damage.

Aside from that, I wouldn't know what to check. I think it's amazing your pda works at all.

Also, there is a guy by the name of Chris Short...just google him. He does a lot of Palm repairs for reasonable prices, and he has good customer service.

Goodluck.
