Buttons on front panel of Yamaha HTR 5930 have become non-functional. Service ctr recommends replacement of switches. Is there any other way out? Say cleaning the switches with spirit?

Hello Anonymous, to be able to clean the buttons correctly, you must take them out and put them in Isopropyl Alcohol, so that the internal dirt is softened, with the risk that it may not be completely clean, that you reinstall them and they do not work properly
Suggestion, pay attention to the Techico Service, replace all the buttons
I hope you can solve the problem

To get audio from your TV through your AV receiver, please connect stereo audio cables from an available AV input on the rear of your receiver such as D-TV/LD or CBL/Sat. Then refer to your TV owner's manual for more information about audio output to an amplifier. You may have to turn off the internal TV speakers in order to get any output from the TV into the AV receiver.

SOURCE: No video signal on Yamaha HTR 5930

On , HTR-5930, composite inputs are routed only to composite outputs. The same happens to component input. You can't see video from V AUX if your TV is hooked-up on component output. Also, check if you connected correctly GREEN, BLUE AND RED on both receiver and TV SET.

I have a Yamaha HTR-5930 with front speakers connected to terminal A. Receiver works well for some time, and then starts switching between speakers A and B continuously in a loop. Any clue?

Hi Anonymous, for what you say you may have a problem with the remote control, that the Speakers A and B keys are emitting and generating the fault, remove the remote control and check if the fault continues, if so, try resetting the team
I pass you the link to download the user manual, look at page 65, the procedure for the reset
I hope you can solve it
Greetings Franco Dosil

Surround problem with Yamaha HTR-5930 5.1 Channels Receiver

The signal that comes from most tv's via the optical output is a stereo signal only. That is what your receiver is reading. You would have to manually set your receiver to decode the signal into surround,.

Yamaha HTR-5930 AV Receiver and a Yamaha RAV309 remote control

Yah, I know :) An answer to a 10 year old post probably isn't going to help the OP but this was the only thing I found anywhere that matched the exact issue that I was having with my HTR-5930 receiver and RAV309 remote, the remote was confirmed working but no response from the receiver. I checked the output of the IR receiver diode behind the display panel and it did not respond to remote signals so I found one on Amazon (ELEDIY 20Pcs IR Receiver Diode VS1838B - 38KHZ) and replaced the original one and everything works again.

I cut the original leads off 1/4-3/8" above the board and took the old one out of the case that remained soldered to the board (you can bend/swing the bottom 1/2 of the case down and slide the diode out towards the leads). The shape of the lense on the replacement diode was a 1/2 cylinder rather than the original 1/2 sphere so I had to cut a slot in the face of the old case from the bottom up to the opening to make room for that, I used a dremel cut-off wheel. Once you get it fitting in there, bend the legs of the new one and trim to length so they overlap the stubs you left from the old. After bending/swinging the bottom of the case back up the diode is nicely held in place and you can finish lining up the old and new legs, solder them together, test things and then reassemble and enjoy your receiver working with the remote again.

I have a Yamaha HTR-5930 Home Theater Sys. Somehow, I've managed to lose my right channel when watching T.V. (dish network), but when my son plays with the XBox, he gets full surround stereo. Any ideas?

The XBox is probably hooked up separately to the amplifier, try cycling the inputs on the amplifier. If that doesn't work replace the cbale between your amplifier and tv.
