The door won't open on my Toshiba SD-K220S DVD/VCR combo. Worked fine until I tried to use today. No DVD loaded; door just will not open. Tried unplugging. Remote won't open it either.

Hi Priscilla, as you say, it is very feasible that the belt that is responsible for opening the CD tray is stretched
it is not easy to access to release the mechanism
I suggest you consult a specialized technical service
I hope you can solve the problem
Greetings Franco Dosil

SOURCE: DVD drawer in TV/VCR/DVD combo won't open

There is very likely a code that you can enter with your remote. The trick is finding out what that code is. I have the same problem and get the impression that is should not be so hard to find the code on line, which suggests Emerson does not want us to know it, but would prefer we buy a new tv. I will be contacting a tv repair service to see if they know what the code is.

SOURCE: DVD Player does not work

General Problems
Player won’t work (locks up)
• Try unplugging the AC power cord and plugging it back in.
• Reset the DVD/VCR: on the front of the unit, press and hold the STANDBY/ON button while you press and hold the STOP button—wait at least 3 seconds
before you release both of the buttons. You’ll need to set up your menu preferences because this Reset Procedure returns the DVD/VCR’s menus to the
factory default settings and also erases the contents of the Disc Library.

GO VIDEO model 1030....VCR works fine...DVD..nothing happens...door won't even open?

Combo units have this essential flaw--if one half fails you are usually done especially if the DVD side fails.

If Door does not open either a disc is jammed inside the mechanism or the mechanism is out of alignment or damaged.

Good argument against buying these units--DVD individual parts are rarely sold--only (if available) would be the entire DVD unit itself--not cost effective to repair.

DVD players are now real cheap (see some for as little as $20) so if not a simple jammed disc or something like that buy a DVD player.
