Please check the spring on your lid, it may be keeping the door open. Miele vacuum cleaners mainly use a spring concept for keeping lids open - merely pushing it down will lock it at the bottom.

If you look at page 22 you'll see the optional blower attachment and how to install it - ignore this - however it gives you the view of the two hinges on the actual accessory door. These clip on at either side of the front but there should also be a square partition on the back of the accessory door. Here is where the clip sits into the door and the parts hook onto two spring holders at the bottom. Once that is fitted the door should then go onto the front.
That door is called a valve door, and it may have broken, part #38718013. Or the valve arm, rear broke, part number 38719048. The spring part # is 38358001. Usually it is the valve arm that breaks. You would have to take the top cover off, then you can see the parts.
