Hi,
I am trying to transfer video tape from video camera to PC via USB Cable.
I've installed the cd that came with the camera, but when I try and use the Image Mixer program, I got to Capture Enviroment button, then I hit the USB button and it says: "Check mode setup on camera"
What mode or settings to I need to have my camera set on.
Thanks

buy that wire, check ur camcorder if it has 6pin or 4pin for firewire then check ur pc if it has firewire card...if not you have to purchase the ieee1394card. install it then connect your camcorder to pc through firewire and that will be it.. u also need to have a software for video capturing and editing like adobe, roxio, pinnacle , etc...hope that helps.

Hi, Since videos are taped in DV format, you need a firewire card (IEEE-1394) and cable. These are cheap. May be your PC already has a firewire card. Just check. Windows XP recognises automatically the camcorder. Moreover, its integrated video capture/editing module, Windows Movie Maker, is very userfriendly. USB connection is only good for downloading still images (photos) to your PC. For more information, go to http://www.videohelp.com/. good luck

You would need to use iMovie. Most MacBooks come with this already installed but if you can't find it you might have to buy it from apple's website. All you have to do is open iMovie with the camera connected and on and import the movie into iMovie, then you can edit the way you want it to be. iMovie has some great tutorials as well. Importing and editing can take a while, however.

You can't capture the video with a USB cable. The USB cable and software that came with the camcorder are only used to transfer still images.
To transfer video you'll need a DV cable (also known as a Firewire cable) and some additional software. I use Scenalyzer Live. It's not free, but you can download a demo copy to see if you like it before you buy it. Here's a link to the Scenalyzer website:
http://scenalyzer.com/
If you have the JVC manual you should read page 41. If you don't have the manual you can download it here:
http://www.devicemanuals.com/guide/Digital%20Camcorder/JVC/JVC-Compact-VHS-w-LCD-Screen-Camcorder-GR-D370AS-User's-TWpJME56VT.html
The download link is about half way down the left side. It's a little difficult to find, but it's there.
Lastly, all this assumes that your computer has a Firewirre port. Most new computers will have one, but if you do not you'll need to buy and install a Firewire PCI card. Let us know if you need more help.
