If you have checked the power supply and it is not the issue, it is possible that the control board or other internal components of the dishwasher may have malfunctioned. Here are a few things you can try:
Check the dishwasher's door latch to ensure that it is closed properly. If the latch is not engaged, the dishwasher will not start.
Check the dishwasher's circuit breaker to see if it has tripped. If it has, reset the breaker and try starting the dishwasher again.
Make sure the dishwasher's control panel is not locked. Some models have a control lock that can be activated by pressing and holding a certain button or combination of buttons. If the control panel is locked, the dishwasher will not start.
If none of these steps help, it may be best to contact a professional appliance repair technician to diagnose and repair the issue.
Check your circuit for a fault.
Domestic appliances have a capacitive RF filter in the mains input. Switch both live and neutral off with a double pole switch at the consumer unit when you are away. That will stop the residual current trip breaking when the neutral line is still connected.
Circuit breakers do fail. You could swap a different 15amp breaker from another circuit to test this hypothesis, or just swap it with a new one. At least this way you'll know it isn't a power supply issue.
You can turn off the breaker that is supplying power to the dishwasher, and pay close attention to whatever else no longer has Power such as light fixtures, plugs, etc. it is quite possible that the circuit may be overloaded (too many devices on that breaker) your problem may only occur when all of the devices are being used at the same time.
Sonya, have you checked the circuit breaker in your home's circuit breaker panel to see it has been tripped? Also, is the dishwasher door tightly shut? If the breaker is tripped, reset it to see if the dishwasher trips it again. If it does, either breaker is faulty or the dishwasher has a short circuit in the electrical circuitry. You'll need an authorized service person for that.
Make sure (with and electric field tester/2-prong tester/DMM/VOM) that there's 120VAC to your dishwasher. You can also check the circuit breaker - it may be OFF or TRIPPED. Its easy to see when a breaker is OFF, but harder to see a TRIPPED breaker - the toggle stops halfway between ON and OFF when a breaker trips, and its easy to miss in the dim light of a typical garage or basement (this electrician knows from experience). To reset a TRIPPED breaker, you must throw the toggle switch to OFF, then reset it by throwing the toggle to ON. If your residence has a fuse panel, check you fuse and consider buying a reset-able screw-in replacement from your local electrical supply.
There is a short circuit in the electric system in the dishwasher. As soon as you shut the hood, the circuit is completed and causes the breaker to trip.
You will need a technician to find the leaky part. Most likely the water is leaking into the motor / pump area causing a short circuit.
Best to disconnect from the mains and check for leaky gaskets. I believe this uses a 3 phase 400V which can be converted to single phase. So also make sure there is no unbalance in the mains power phases if you are using 3 phase supply.
