More than likely your bearings are going bad. Pool pumps run many hours a day and if you get 5 years or more then that is about all you can expect. More than likely you can buy a new motor for just a little more than the price to replace the bearings but I suggest you contact a local electric motor shop to get a price on both. It will not hurt to continue to use the unit until it dies but the noise will drive you crazy and will really anoy your neighbors. You might want to install a smoke detector in the event the unit starts smoking or starts a fire.
Testimonial: "Thank you. I have ordered a new motor and disconnected the old noisy one until the new one is installed tomorrow. "
FIRE IS RARE AND A MOTOR REPAIR SHOULD COST AROUND 75.00 WITH A NEW SHAFT SEAL, BUT IF'N IT WAS ME I'D DROP THAT JACUZZI . LIKE A HOT POTATO AND BUY A STA RITE DURA GLAS . JACUZZI'S ARE HARD TO FIND PARTS FOR $$$.. SO NOW IS THE TIME TO BAIL.. MY SECOND CHOICE WOULD BE A HAYWARD SUPER OR SUPER 2 .. GOOD LUCK AND REMEMBER AFTER A PUMP REPAIR " PRIME THE PUMP ! " IF'N I WAS ANY HELP VOTE .. THANKS ..JAY
Where do you buy the $75 motor replacement for the Jacuzzi Magnum Force pump?
REPAIR SHOULD COST AROUND 75.00 WITH A NEW SHAFT SEAL. I REPAIR (REBUILD) MOTORS ! THATS BEARING AND NEW SHAFT SEAL, WITH A 101 HOW 2 TAKE CARE OF YOUR PUMP .. IT IS HARD TO FIND A GUY THAT WILL REBUILD , MOST JUST STICK A NEW MOTOR ON IT, AND SAY HERE YA GO, THAT WILL BE 235.00 PLEASE .. OR MORE $$$ .. THATS NOT THE WAY I PLAY THE GAME !.
I replaced my bearings. When I turned it back on they started smoking. Is that normal and will it stop?

Thank
you for posting your question here on Fixya.com.
Your motor
bearings are failing. It is most often caused by a leaking pump seal. It is a
relatively inexpensive repair if it is caught early enough; before the shaft is
damaged from the corrosive water eating into the steel.
Take it to a
local electric motor repair shop for inspection. It will likely need a set of
203 bearings for the motor and a mechanical seal for the pump. All told,
depending on the labor rates, it should be less than $75. You could try to
repair this yourself however if you are not familiar with the process it is
money well spent having someone who is do the repair for you.
