I don't know. using the same liquid volume, please consider running 3 fresh cups of white vinegar through the machine without putting in a puck.. it may just be that the hot water is being directed and restricted to one side of the puck because of a build up of lime. also, your owner's manual may offer other ideas about cleaning or flushing.

SOURCE: Grind is too coarse and "pucks" are wet and fall apart.

You say " I am getting a weak brew because of not being able to adust the grind to more coarse with the adjustment knob in the bean hopper" By making it more coarse you are making it weaker. Unless you just wrote it wrong. To make it stronger you should lower the grinder number to a smaller number. Usually about 4-6. Be sure you have the grinder grinding when you move it to a lower number. The pump noise could be that in shipping your pump came loose from it's mount. Nothing you can do without sending it to a Authorized Saeco Repair shop.

SOURCE: Saeco Vienna grinds too much coffee.

Hi
If you have the Delux or Digital there are 2 knobs in the bean hopper. Turn the small knob back 1 mark and see if that will help.

SOURCE: Hello. I have a saeco vienna superautomatic

This happens due to condensation caused by steam developed at the end of the grinding cycle. Make sure that the grinding chamber is completely cleaned and dried before using the grinder.

  1. Turn the whole bean chamber to the right until it can be lifted off the base. This will allow you to clean the grinding wheel. NOTE: Never use water or liquid for cleaning the lower grinding section of this appliance.
  2. Clean interior recesses with a soft brush (not provided).
  3. Wash the whole bean chamber and lid and the ground coffee chamber and lid in mild detergent and water. These items are only dishwasher safe on the top rack of your dishwasher. Wipe exterior with a damp cloth. Do not immerse mill in water or any other liquid or place in dishwasher. Use only non-abrasive cleaners to remove stains.
  4. After completely drying, replace whole bean chamber. Important: when replacing whole bean chamber, screw on completely before setting grinding rate. Turn chamber clockwise (as viewed from top), until it will not turn. Fill with whole coffee beans for grinding and replace lid.
  5. Replace ground coffee chamber and lid, making sure it snaps securely into place.

Our Saeco Vienna Superautomatica sounds like it's grinding beans but keeps running until the red 'bean' light comes on and we have to shut the machine off. Any suggestions?

The grinder is timing out and stops if the beans do not enter the grinder. This happens because:
1- The grinder outlet is clogged and fresh beans cannot pass through the burrs.
2- The grind setting is too fine and helping clogging in the grinding chamber or the ground coffee outlet.
3- Operator may have been using dark roast oily beans. Like it or not, the dark roast oily beans do not make stronger espresso. Please stop using such beans in fully automatic espresso machines.
4- The grinder has already made over 2000 grinds and the burrs are blunted and not grinding beans as needed.
To solve this malfunction, clean the grinder. Make sure the grinder outlet to the doser is cleaned. This outlet passage is about 2 inches or more. To clean it, lay the machine on its back (water tank side) to allow better view of cleaning the doser and the passage of coffee from the grinder to the doser. Use the link below to find instructions for cleaning the grinder and replace the burrs.

Talea ring the grinder will not stop gringing

The Talea model is with a Ceramic grinder system. This can happen when the grinder outlet is clogged with coffee grounds. Fresh beans cannot enter the grinder as the outlet is clogged. Remember, the grinder in any machine is a grinder. It does not shovel the coffee grounds out and clean the outlet when it is clogged.
1- Check if the grind setting is too fine (powder like). If so change the setting to coarse. Fully automatic machines do not need fine grind. Keep the grind fineness like the table slat grain.
2- Check if the beans are dark roast and oily. Oily beans are a slow poison for any fully automatic machine. Change the beans to Non oily medium roast type.

My Saeco Vienna Black Automatica Espresso maker will grind coffee only about one-fourth of the time. Other times, it makes whirring sound and then shuts off and red "coffee bean" light comes on.

Your grind is to fine. Turn the big knob in the bean hopper up 4 clicks and try again. It could be oily beans which would require the same solution.

My Saeco Vienna at times seems to extract a cup of coffee extremely slowly (drips out). The next cup will come out at a normal rate. I've tried the grind at various settings, but the problem remains. Any...

HI You might need new burrs. When the burrs get dull, they will crush the beans instead of grinding them into small grounds. You start to get powder instead of grinds. They will slow the extraction, but then the next time they will produce the correct shot.
