SOURCE: Maytag Top load FAV6800AWW won't stop filling with water

I had the same problem. The laundry room was flooded. After running the diagnostic check on in the machine it could not find the problem. Although I went to the http://www.servicematters.com/maytag_library/html/index.html website and went through the troubleshooting table and turned the cold water valve on and off, numerous time. The valve leaked intermittently which is why some people couldn't reporduce the problem. This is a $5 solenoid that was sticking and it caused me to flood my home. I'm not impressed with Maytag's (Whirlpool) engineering. The sould have a safety shutoff valve independent to the water valve that is tripped closed when the level switch is activated. This unit was manufactured in Florence. The damn Italians must have build this cold water valve after a wine break!

SOURCE: Top loader washing machine - won't work unless I slam down the top door. Any suggestions? Thanks

I think it is in the lid switch. If the lid switch is malfunctioning on a maytag top loader it will not start washing. Probably by slamming the lid you are making the connection you need for the time being. It is located at the back underneath the lid in the middle. Follow the link and you will see and diagram and parts associated with your washer. http://www.searspartsdirect.com/partsdirect/getSubComp.pd?modelNumber=A4910&productCategoryId=0153000&brandId=3048&modelName=MAYTAG-LAUNDRY&diagramPageId=00002&componentDescription=TOP COVER, CONSOLE & LID SWITCH

SOURCE: My washer fills with water and keeps filling

The problem is simple and easy to fix. Your washer has a tubing which runs from the base of the tub to the water pressure switch. It might have vibrated loose from the switch, or their can be some sediment in the tub. Blow out the tubing and reattach it securely to the switch and pump out the water in the tub. Then try it again. I wrote an article about this:
Help my washer is overflowing !!!

Centennial series stops agitatimg

Usually a top loader will not agitate until the fill sensor is satisfied. If the water has shut off, and is up at the desired level, the fill sensor has done part of it's job. Check the connections there, and at the timer. It may just be a loose connection.

Maytag top loadind washer. Won't stop filling up.

Make sure your drain hose to the drain pipe is higher than the water in the tub if not it will keep running and going out the drain.
Also try taking the hose off the level switch and blow in it to be sure it's not stoped up. If is it won't let the level sw cut off. air should go through it. Good luck
When you unpluged the power and it ddn't keep runing the water valve should be ok.

LSE7806A stack: the wash fills to the water level/load size selected. it starts to agitate then stops and begins to fill with water again which causes overflow, help please

Your fill sensor is leaking and allowing air pressure from the clear tube to seep out. First make sure your clear tube from the tub to the water level valve is firmly connected. If it is then you may need to get a new water level adjuster switch.

Top loader washer won't fill with water

Either the water level sensor is faulty or the selector switch is bad.

Servicing the Water Level Control Switch

This is another control panel switch, usually located next to the temperature switch. There is a small hose connected to this switch, and sometimes this hose becomes loose and falls off the connection. When this happens, the water in the tub usually overflows. To solve this problem, cut about 1/2 inch off the end of the hose and use a push fit to reconnect it to the switch.

The switch itself can also malfunction, resulting in tub overflow and other water-level trouble in the tub. If you suspect this switch is faulty, remove it by backing out the screws holding it in place. Take it to a professional service person for testing. If the switch is faulty, replace it with a new one of the same size and type. Connect the new switch the same way the old one was connected.

Washer didnt fill when turned on, but filled when holding "reset"

sounds like your water level switch is bad OR the small hose that goes from the waterlevel switch to the bottom of the tank has a hole in it.Try replacing this small hose first.you can go to an auto parts store and match it up.it's usually about 3' long and about 1/4" inside diameter and about 99cents a foot.

Ultimate Care II - water doesn't stop at the fill line, keeps filling to overflow and will not agitate

If the washer overfills, it may be something as simple as a detached or broken air hose on the pressure switch. The following link explains:

http://www.fixya.com/support/r762094-washer_overflows

The pressure switch on top loaders is located behind the load level selector knob on the operator console. The pressure switch on front loaders will be located inside the cabinet, usually mounted along the back interior wall. In the case of certain Maytag front loaders, the pressure switch is actually located under the tub. The principles of operation on all of them is the same, though. They all have an electrical connection and an air hose that detects the pressure from the tub as the water level rises.

If the pressure switch is not able to detect the water level properly, it will not shut off and the washer will never begin the wash cycle. Instead, you get a tub overflowing on your laundry room floor.

Read through the link provided and let me know if you have any questions. I hope this helps you.

NOTE: Another source of an overflow could be the water inlet valve. This is usually a slow fill fill that you find when the washer is sitting idle over night. A quick test to determine the source of the problem is to unplug the washer. If the water stops - pressure switch. If the water continues to fill - water inlet valve.

If you have questions, please let me know. I hope this helps you.

Maytag washer, model: LAT8415AAE top loader. Washer fills with water but will not start agitating, spin or drain.

Check lid switch. Most will not run with lid open and the switch may not be pressed down when door is closed

Washer fills up only half way but water keeps trying to fill tub

That is because the water level switch get stuck when water level reaches that particular point.

The water level switch is activated either by a floater sensor or by a membrane sensor that detects water pressure/volume, depending on the model.
On washing machines it is usually a membrane switch, and that is faulty on your machine.
