try checking to see if perhaps the blade is bent if not blade maybe the spindle or possibly the bearings are bad on the spindles causing them to not run true, also are all tires inflated properly good luck

If the head lights come on, check the PTO switch connector. Very often the connector comes loose.
If no headlights, check the fuse. If blowen look for shorted wiring: Mice may have chewed wires inside the flywheel cover; check the head light cable. Often it rubs through at the hood pivot; check the lead on the carburetor solenoid, sometimes they rub through at the wire ties holding the red lead to the solenoid.
I am a certified Cub service tech,and those are the common problems I have run into.
Oh, one more thing, make sure the battery is good. Load test it or have it load tested if you don't have a tester. Don't just check it with a volt meter. That wont load the battery to check for dead cells.

Check the spark plug, and replace the gas if it's more than a few months old. Old gas is often the culprit if it's been sitting for any length of time.
