I was having a similar issue. I checked every wire from the battery to stereo to amp, checked the ground, pulled the stereo to double check the wiring was all correct. Everything seemed good so I thought it had to be my battery not putting out enough power. Tested it and it was good. What it turned out to be was the connection from the power cord to the battery. It had a tiny bit of built up corrosion that was making the amp go into protect mode. Cleaned it up and hooked it back up and has been golden since.
The link attached is pretty straight up on what you need to check for different circumstances. I'm guessing it's a low voltage issue. Good luck

SOURCE: Red light on Amplifier

if your amplifier has the internal Kicker card dealie "little computer card on the side that you can change out crossover settings and such," Turn off the vehicle, remove this device and make sure the contacts on the card are clean and free from black soot (showing a spark). clean the contacts with a pencil eraser or something hard but soft... and put the little card back in place, start the car again and see if that helps, I used to lose one speaker every once in a while with the same amp. I ended up replacing the module with a different one from my dealer and it worked fine (still does and it's been in my car 6 years). Check that little module. if this doesnt work, while the car is running and the music is "playing" wiggle the card and see if it works sometimes and not others. Likely is the little module.

SOURCE: sony explode amp for my car

Try disconnecting everything but the power connections. If the protection light still comes on, then there's a problem in the amp. If it goes out, then there's a problem elsewhere. In that case, hook up one speaker cable at a time and power on. If the protection light comes on, then either that speaker is bad, or you've got too many speakers connected to that one amp output. Too many speakers connected together can cause an overload and trigger the protection circuitry, or worse, blow out something out.

Hope this helps, and please rate my advice.
Thank you, and good luck!!

SOURCE: mtx 1501d no sound

There are a number of things that can cause it to act as you described. Have you pulled the covers off of it yet to see if you can see any problems?

If you do, disconnect power from it and don't touch ANYTHING on the board when ANY of the 3 LEDs (2 are not visible from the outside) are lit.

SOURCE: Amp won't turn on

disconnect audio inputs and outputs and see if one of those are causing it , if it still does it with all audio inputs and outputs disconnected then there is a problem with the power amp

If none of the lights are coming on for the amp then the amp is not getting power and/or ground. Check the connections. Check the fuses. Or the amp is no good.

MTX Thunder 81001 wont push subs

first of all you should check the minimal impedance your amp handles , if is class d it should handle between 1-2 ohms total impedance in a mono conection , meaning whatever quantity of subs you have hooked to your amplifier, their total impedance should the minimum the amp handles that way all the power from your amplifier will be used.

MTX thunder 304 4ch red amp light comes on but no audio have triple checked all connections and they seem alright

if the lights on and there is no sound it's either a cd player issue or your rca issue or the inputs for rca's on the amp are no good. or you have your subs wired at a wrong load to your amp and it is in a constant protection to avoid burning up.
