I have a Yamaha HTR-5930 with front speakers connected to terminal A. Receiver works well for some time, and then starts switching between speakers A and B continuously in a loop. Any clue?

Hi Anonymous, for what you say you may have a problem with the remote control, that the Speakers A and B keys are emitting and generating the fault, remove the remote control and check if the fault continues, if so, try resetting the team
I pass you the link to download the user manual, look at page 65, the procedure for the reset
I hope you can solve it
Greetings Franco Dosil

Well, I'm glad you could solve it
try to carefully disassemble the remote control, clean the template of the rubber contacts with warm water and a neutral detergent, the plate with some type of glass cleaner, remove the residual rubber and silicone that remain in the contacts, do not use alcohol
Let everything dry and test if the problem was corrected
    Thanks for your comment
    Regards Franco Dosil

SOURCE: Yamaha HTR-5990 Receiver

I JUST EXPERIENCED THE SAME SITUATION HERE IS THE SOULTION YAMAHA SENT ME TO RESET THE SYSTEM HTR-5990 YAMAHA HTR-5990 FACTORY PRESET PROCEDURES All models require the STANDBY/ON button to be turned OFF to start the reset process. NOTE: The remote control cannot be used during the reset procedure. All necessary buttons to complete the reset process are located on the front panel of the receiver. This procedure is not intended to correct intermittent shut-off symptoms or problems MODEL: HTR-5990 (U.S.A. model/s) (BEFORE YOU CONTINUE, PLEASE READ THE ABOVE NOTES!) 1. Before you start this procedure, locate the MASTER ON/OFF button and the STRAIGHT/EFFECT button on the Front Panel of the unit. 2. MAKE SURE THAT YOUR RECEIVER’S MASTER ON/OFF HAS BEEN TURNED OFF. 3. With the Right Hand, press and hold the STRAIGHT/EFFECT button. With the Left Hand, press the MASTER ON/OFF button and HOLD both buttons for no more than “3” SECONDS, AT THE SAME TIME. SP IMP. * 8 MIN. will appear on the display, which indicates you are in the Diagnostics Mode. 4. Rotate the PROGRAM KNOB to the right (ONCE) until the display reads PRESET *CANCEL. 5. Press the STRAIGHT/EFFECT button (ONCE) and the display will change to PRESET RESET. 6. Turn the unit off by pressing the MASTER ON/OFF button. 7. Wait 5 seconds, then turn the unit on by pressing the MASTER ON/OFF button. You have now reset your component to the factory settings. NOTE: Yamaha receivers don’t have to be reset during normal operation. It is not recommended that you reset the receiver unless a setting has been changed that you are not aware of, or the receiver is not operating properly. The reset procedure will clear an incorrect setting that might be causing abnormal operation. GOOD LUCK

SOURCE: No video signal on Yamaha HTR 5930

On , HTR-5930, composite inputs are routed only to composite outputs. The same happens to component input. You can't see video from V AUX if your TV is hooked-up on component output. Also, check if you connected correctly GREEN, BLUE AND RED on both receiver and TV SET.

SOURCE: Yamaha HTR-6130 Front right and left speakers with no sound

As simple as this sounds, try hitting the speaker a/b button on the front of the unit, next to the headphone jack. I had the same problem, and was about to package the whole thing back up and go back to Best Buy when I hit this button and then the audio test worked.

Surround problem with Yamaha HTR-5930 5.1 Channels Receiver

The signal that comes from most tv's via the optical output is a stereo signal only. That is what your receiver is reading. You would have to manually set your receiver to decode the signal into surround,.

I am trying to figure out how to connect my ipod to my Yamaha htr-5930. Can I do that through the headphone jack, or through the aux jack? Is there anyway I can do this? Thanks! [email protected] is where...

Use a 3.5 mm to 2Male RCA cable. Plug this into an AUX or CD input in the back. Adjust the volume on the iPod as well as the master volume to balance out the sound. The headphone on the receiver is output only.

My baby was playing with the remote now my 5930 receiver plays through only two speakers not the five that it used to.

Could you provide some details like which channels do and do not work? Is it the same for all sources?

Did you check the obvious things like settings: Stereo Only comes to mind. A good look at the front panel may reveal something.

Have you read the manual and followed the specifc menus for setting up the sound?

HTR-5930

To get audio from your TV through your AV receiver, please connect stereo audio cables from an available AV input on the rear of your receiver such as D-TV/LD or CBL/Sat. Then refer to your TV owner's manual for more information about audio output to an amplifier. You may have to turn off the internal TV speakers in order to get any output from the TV into the AV receiver.
