Sound like motors or heaters have a short good luck.

I have a hotpoint wd420. the door light is flashing the wash light is on constant and the machine wont work anyone any solutions please!!

My WD 420 packed up, after watching the blogs I did:1) remove filter - found 2 quid, a thong, a pop sock, a christmas cracker toy and a load of gunge. 2) removed the motor - brushes worn to nothing - replaced them.
Washer running as new. 6 years old, 2 house moves - not bad reliability. Nearly gave up and bought a new machine!!

Machine is completely dead. Fuse and plug ok.

hello, have you checked the glass fuse inside the washer's power supply ,but beware if you put another one in and blows again then you have dead short , make sure you use the same rated fuse
hope it helps

Hotpoint WD 865- washes ok, dryer won't work makes loud popping

sounds like the dryer heater element has worked loose perhaps and shorted out against the metal dryer box which sits on top of the drum.
best to get an engineer out i'd say.

No power to washing machine

If this machine is totally dead and it tripped your home electrics - (which is probably a 30amp fuse) means that it is likely a serious fault in the machine. :-(

Washing machines take out ring main fuses if there are faults in the washers heater unit, motor or suppressor. Also water may have breached a seal somewhere and cause a short inside the electrical compartments. The flash you saw was probably some sensitive electronics and any smaller internal fuse popping. It is possible that simply replacing internal fuse will result in doing more damage once power is restored.

To fix a fusing washing machine you have to use a diagnostic electrical meter that puts high voltage across the appliance - Not something I can offer more info on. So whatever has happened (and in the interest of safety) you would probably want a qualified proffessional to take a look or as a last resort a hotpoint engineer!

Kind Regards

Hotpoint WD51 fuse issue

is it the motor that got hot?, if so then check the motor carbons for wear, as these heat up when worn, also if the carbons are fine check the pump and filters for blockages, this makes the motor spin while water is still in the machine causing the motor to overheat, and subsequently tripping and blowing the fuses etc hope i have helped a little
