You say you cleaned the battery compartment then replaced the batteries. This tells me that batteries leaked. If those batteries have leaked into your fire stick it is probably damaged Beyond repair.

please update your tv's firmware/software. If this does not solve the problem, you might need to update your physical firestick (ie get a newer replacement).
When you sign onto Amazon. Search for your model (generation) Firestick remote. They do show several replacement models. Consider the age of your unit and how it operates before buying. We enjoy our Firestick but recently replaced it due to speed and glitches. We bought the Fire TV with 4K Ultra HD for $75. and really like it. No glitching, fast and voice control. Hope this helps. Plug the fire TV stick into a HDMI port on the TV. Plug in power for firestick. Change the INPUT to that HDMI port Main firestick screen should appear after 10-20 seconds
Plug your Firestick into one of the HDMI ports on your TV. Plug the USB power cable into your Firestick and into the wall or a USB outlet on your TV (if there is one)
Turn on your TV and set the INPUT device to the correct HDMI port. There should be a splash screen or setup screen on your TV at that point.
Using your Firestick remote, navigate to network settings and scan for your WI-FI router, Then enter the Wi-Fi password for your router (the same one you use for your smart phone or laptop).
You should be able to fully use your Amazon Firestick, and if you have Amazon Prime, be able to access all prime and free offerings from Amazon.
The TV remote has a button for that. Input Select or Source or SEL. However simply turning off anything except the firestick should make it work. I presume the firestick came with a remote. Simply turning it off and on from that should do it. Make sure you can see the firestick when you press the buttons.
1.Replace batteries.(in remote)
2.Get within 12 inches from firestick.
3.Press and hold home button for 10 seconds.
This should now pair with firestick, and should work.
Perform one or more of
1. re-insert the firestick.
2. Power cycle the TV
3. renew the lease from the router (if not dynamic dhcp)
4. power cycle the router (as last resort)
I HAD THE EXACT SAME ISSUE ON MY LG TV. WENT THROUGH EVERY PROCESS REMOVE BATTERIES, UNPLUG ETHERNET CABLE, HOLD IN POWER BUTTON ETC ONLY TO FOND OUT IT WAS MY FIRESTICK REMOTE THAT WAS THE PROBLEM. THATS WHAT WAS TURNING TGE VOLUME UP TO 100. I CHANGED THE BATTERIES AND CLEANED THE BUTTONS AND TURNED IT DOWN. PROBLEM HAS NOW GONE.
