Kinda of a battery problem. see if it fixed when you replace the battery.

SOURCE: summer infant baby monitor

Need to clean and resoldering works.Cold solder issues - each component is soldered into small holes on the printed circuit board which in turn connects said component to the other components. Due to time, heat, use, some solder joints would be cracked or loose. It is possible that the cold solder is still minimally connected (hanging by a thread). When the receiver turns on heat would be generated which would be sufficient to further loosen up the solder joint to the point it no longer provides electrical contact. Jarring the unit creates movement inside enough to re establish the contact, sometime good enough sometimes not enough.

Again, since the unit still operates (sometimes) then it is highly probable that there are no defective components. As you have surmised, it is possibly a loose connection, solder joints are "connections" except that molten soldering lead is used to attach/connect the component to the board, "loose connection" in this sense is equal to "cold solder".

Again on the assumption of no defective parts, then seeking a more experienced buddy for the soldering might be to your advantage. This is of course in addition to the possible electrical hazards when repairing....If i have helped, please click to rate.It is the only way i get paid for my work...

Good luck:

Why does it keep "saying" out of range?

if camera and base are within a few feet of one another does it have a problem obtaining a signal (syncing ) ?? as if it works ok then there might be a object that is getting in the way of the signal , radio waves move from its transmitter (camera) towards its receiver (monitor) in a straight line , if there is too large a mass in the way then the radio wave can't penetrate it and will be "lost" also ck both the camera's and bases battery levels (if they have one) for proper peak power level , as it takes energy to drive the radio signal towards its receiver .

On my summer video monitor the volume up button has started to control the movement of the camera and there is no way to turn the volume up. Is this common and is there any way to correct the problem

We tried taking the battery out, running the monitor on a/c power only, and deleting then resyncing the camera. None worked. Finally I just ended up calling the summer infant customer service line. They told me that the unit had to be replaced. If you are within 12 months without a receipt, or 15 months with the receipt, you can send it back and get a new one for free without paying any shipping and handling.

Summer infant baby monitor has frozen screen

My monitor was stuck on one of my cameras and when I turned it off and on again it was stuck in the hello screen. I took the battery out and put it in again. Then I pressed the button on the left (I have a best view) and pressed the right arrow key until I got to the view can screen. It turns out something was wrong with just one of my cameras as I could view the other one. I unplugged and replugged that camera and that solved my problem!

My monitor has lost its pitcher and is saying no camera

The camera is not transmitting an RF signal to the tv, check to make sure the camera is receiving power, if okay! the camera must be dismantled to see if any wires or plugs have come loose.

My summer infant video monitor's screen went blank

this just happened to mine too and i took the battery cover off and out of the handheld parent piece and put it back in, turned it on and it started working again. hopefully this is only a one time deal due to the fact that they are somewhat expensive (however the best ones supposedly) and i already replaced my first one that the screen stopped working on due to dropping it and replaced that for the little bit cheaper one and smaller one but has the talk back button. now that my daughter is getting older (16 months) i like having the option to be able to talk to her especially since i live in a 3 story house!! so anyone yea, just took battery out and put back in and seems to be working ok right now.
