What operating system are you using?
NOTE: A usb floppy drive will not work when plugged into a USB 3.0 socket, you need to plug it into USB 2.0 if you have one.

SOURCE: REPAIR FLOPPY DRIVE

There are a few different applications that can aid you in doing this. Here is one. http://www.accurite.com/AAD.html Most often than not, the heads will not be realigned properly with such software, and the cost of purchasing the mechanical tools to do it manually and the time and energy it takes outweigh the cost of just buying a new drive. If you are having read/write problems, and an inexpensive head cleaner (http://pc-extras.com/prods/cl35ck.html) does not solve the problem, I would recommend replacement.

SOURCE: need vista driver for FD-05PUB teac usb floppy drive

After an agonizing hour of searching, I found this solution.
Unlike Windows XP, Win Vista lacks the generic drivers for USB devices.
So the workaround is to copy the XP USB drivers into your Vista system32\inf folder.

1.Specifically, google for these two winXP files:

usbstor.inf
usbstor.sys

2. download and save them into your windows\system32\inf folder

3. Pop in your device and allow the drivers to be searched manually and point to the above location.

Presto! The usb device now works fine!

A great step backward from Vista to XP if you ask me!

The drivers are on the manufactures site.

If you can not locate them email me and I can zip the CD and try to send them too you.

We have a TEAC FD-05PUB external floppy drive that we are unable to run - system is Windows xp - we can connect to other PCs and it works fine. Thought perhaps it was the drivers but unable to located any...

The USB Floppy Drive shouldn't require drivers under Windows XP (according to TEAC, here: http://goo.gl/BvTcV).
Make sure your Windows XP installation is completely up to date, as Windows Updates often contain driver updates as well as system updates. If this still doesn't work (or your system is already completely updated), there are some additional troubleshooting options here: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/283658.

Need vista driver for FD-05PUB teac usb floppy drive

You should have (if bought new) had a mini disc in with the drive. If not try the manufacturers site and download it. It's also possible by doing the add/remove hardware and pointing towards Microsoft for the driver it will install for you. Hope this helps...Tango.
