Upgrading the Cpu of a ASUS X54C-BBK21

If you google this, you'll see other people have upgraded to i5/i7, if you currently have a Core series processor with the correct socket, this page on the Asus site only shows the X54C going as high as an i3 but apparently it is possible to upgrade the CPU on certain versions of the X54C.Check this link http://community.spiceworks.com/topic/433227-asus-x54c-bbk9-upgrade-cpu-to-i5-i7

Upgrade proccessor

Dear Justin,

The Latitude E5410 service manual shows that the following processors can be used: Intel Core i3, i5 and i7 series, as well as Intel Celeron and it is also shown in the manual that the processor can be removed (it is not soldered directly to the motherboard) . And a review of this laptop by "Notebook Review" indicates that "The Latitude E5410 offers a wide range of processor options, spanning from the Core i3 370M to the Core i7 620M."

Although I do not know which processor you presently have in your laptop, I would say that it can be upgradeable from a Core i3, or Core i5 to a Core i7 620M processor.

Hope this helps!

Can I upgrade my processor to i5 for my acer 4738z pentium dual core laptop

In general it is possible to upgrade the processor of a laptop, the socket has to be the same. A faster processor may or may not produce more heat than your current one, the heat output is mainly distinguished by the watts the cpu uses.

It is though not very practical to change the CPU. Same socket means that you are bound to processors of the same era, you cannot get a state of the art architecture processor (like i3, i5, i7) with the same socket your P6200 has.

Next point is that it is not that easy to change the processor inside of a laptop, the parts are very tightly screwed into the casing making it hard to do anything in there. additionally you are likely to destroy something or unintentionally wont be able to fit all the pieces in place afterwards.

Looking at the list of pentium processors at wikipedia. It says the P6200 uses a Socket G1, as you can see in that list there are only four CPUs using this socket, and only one that would count as better as yours. So clearly: No, not worth it.

Actually there are some i7's out using the same socket and drawing only 35W, but I wont guarantee that it actually would work, and I doubt that the laptops hardware is made to support this CPU.

It is possible, but I would not recommend it.

What is the latest computer on the retail market?

The best processor on the market right now is the Intel core I7. If your looking for a new computer, an I7 or an I5 would probably work best for you if you want it to last. If your looking for a gaming computer, try to get one with a graphics card that is at least an Nvidia 460 or an ATI 6770.

I want to upgrade my core2duo processor to i5 or i7, is it compatible to my motherboard a6252d

Hi rlcaralde,

Your motherboard will not support intel i5 or i7 processor .
Reason:-
In this motherboard socket 775 is used. It only support intel Pentium 4, Core2due etc..

So, if you want to add i5 or i7 processor you need to by new motherboard.

Thanks.

I have a new motherboard Elitegroup H55H-M with a processor I5 760, it does not give of video, alone it issues bip of mistake. That can be?

From the research I read(you're probably not going to like this), your board has an Intel H55 chipset that will produce video but only with the i5 or i7 "clarksdale" cpu's. Your average i5 or i7 will not support the video. there is no onboard grahics on your board, it's designed to work only with Intel 32nm Clarksdale. It sound like it would be an awesome combination.

What processors does this motherboard support other than intel core 3? Will it support core 5 and 7?

You forgot to say what motherboard you have. But it depends on which socket it is. Skt 1156 can take i3/i5/i7 processors, skt 1366 is i7 extreme I think.

So yes, since yours supports i3 then it should support the i5 and i7 as well.
