I have a vizio e65-e1. It is unbearably dim. Sound works. Backlight is on. Picture is there. Just so dark you have to be 1 inch away to see it. Went through settings and set backlight to 100 but didnt change a thing. Ive got the back off and nothing visibly burnt or swollen. Where do i go from here? Please advise.

There are strips of led's that control the brightness of your picture. Check the driver board and also check to see if all led's are lit. Go to shopjimmy.com for parts and how to.

SOURCE: Toshiba 22LV505 TV-DVD:

Check the DC filter caps in the power supply first. Check the 24vdc (or 18vdc for this 22" model) to see if it goes away when the screen goes black.
There are main AC fuse, backlight inverter fuses, T-CON fuses.

I have had my 55" Vision for a year and a half. Today I was watching a movie and the picture went dark and audio stayed on. If I turned the TV off and then back on it would light up with no Vision logo...

Sounds like you have a backlight problem. To verify this, turn on the set and dim the lights in the room. Take a bright flashlight and shine it on the screen. If you see a faint picture, you either have a back inverter or a bad backlight bulb.

VX37L Screen Suddenly Went Blank, Now No Image, Sound Only on Cable Input, VIZIO Logo Lights Up

Hello,
turn on the set, grab a bright flash light and dim the lights in the room. Shine the flash light on the screen, if you see a faint picture on the screen, you are dealing with a backlight problem. There are several things that can cause this. One, a bad backlight inverter, two, faulty 24vdc power supply, three, bad main board, or a bad faulty backlamp.

Vizio vo47L 47" LCD. No

0ne of 3 has failed:
(in order of probability):

1. Backlight inverter
2. Power Supply
3. Backlight

More specifically on #1 and #2 - capacitors either bulging, leaking, or exploded.

Please seek the expertise of an experienced TV repair technician - as they contain potentially lethal voltages that must be properly discharged before work can begin.

My Vizio LCD TV screen fades to dark. Sound stays on.

I w having this same issue when watching a Blu-Ray disc. I found it to be dependent upon what picture mode the TV was set to. By this I mean certain picture modes would cause the TV to dim during dark scenes of a movie. Changing the picture mode helped a lot.

Dark screen

if the picture is REALLY dark, like you can just barely see it in a lit room, then the backlight might not be lit. LCD TVshave backlight that shines through the LCD screen which allows you to see the picture.

If it's not the backlight then it would be the brightness/contrast settings that need to be adjusted. If the picture used to be normal and all of a sudden went dark, verify the backlight. Normally you can look through the slots on the top of the set and determine if the backlight is on. If you can see a bright light through any of the slots, the backlight is probably OK... go after the brightness/contrast settings.
