If u still having the same problem, follow these steps:

1.Insert your pendrive. open mycomputer, note the respective drive showing pendrive.

2. Then go to run and type cmd ( or go to command prompt)

3.It will show like: C:\> or C:\Documents and Settings\UserName>

4.Type the drive name of pendrive as shown in e.g
if drive is h: then type as

c:\>h:
h:\>format h:
it will format and ask for media name, you can give the name of your pendrive.

your pen drive is formatted. Now it will show the free space as 8G.B

Hello! Have you formatted this pen drive when you use this drive on your PC at the first? Honestly, from my understanding, it is always necessary to firstly format the new flash drive before transferring anything new there to avoid flash drive not formatted error or RAW file system error problems.
But, now, you also do not worry! In such case, as with the left pen drive information, you can firstly take chance with RAW file system pen drive data recovery software to rescue all possible original data back. And then, format this flash drive on the same PC and see whether it can work effectively there.
Go learn to make pen drive data backups well all the time.

I had a pendrive of 8 GB my friend tried to make a bootable pendrive so he changed some settings by command prompt. My pendrive storage capacity dropped from 8 GB to 3.44 GB I need a good solution please...

Hello,
It seems that after your friend made it a bootable pendrive, he/she did not format it.The space has been used up by the installation files in the flashdrive, and these files may be hidden. This is likely to be the case with some command-line utilities for making bootable flashdrives.
To recover your space, simply format your USB pendrive. To do so on Windows XP,insert the flashdrive into your PC, go to My Computer, right-click the USB pendrive, and in the window that appears, click the tools tab and select the Format option.
That should solve your problem.
