My dirt devil propower xl is brand new. It cleans very good but stops after few minutes and never turn back on. What is the problem?

The reset button is located on the upper left hand side of the unit above where the low voltage wires connect into the machine.

Hi! No the vacuum doesn't have a restart button, but it does have a thermal protector that will shut the vacuum down when it is overheated. If your dirt cup was too full this will activate the thermal protector sensor. Clogs and dirty filters can cause this as well. We recommend emptying the dirt cup, tapping out the filter and checking the hose for clogs. The vacuum will come back on usually within 45 minutes to an hour. Hope this helps. Hi there! The vacuum is equipped with a thermal protector sensor that will automatically shut the motor down if it reaches a certain temperature. This is usually caused by either a clog or a filter that needs to be cleaned or replaced. Make sure you check both the hoses for clogs and clean all filters properly. If a filter is really dirty it may be time to replace it. Hope this was helpful!

It's overheating. Empty the cup and replace the filters. There's a breaker that opens up and turns it off when it gets too hot. When it cools down it closes back up and it will run again. It'll argue with you til the end of time or until you fix the problem.

My dirt devil just did the same thing to me. I cleaned the filter super good, checked all the hoses for clogs and the brush for tangled strings. Plugged it in and it worked! Yay!!! Hope this works for you too. Linda

Check the dirt cup filter. remove the dirt cup and check for proper suction. if you have good suction, check your belt

check and see if the brushroll still turns easy. if it doesnt, u may need a new brushroll which can be found on ebay, or dirt devil's website

If it is only 2 months old, then it is under warranty, take it in for warranty repair. There may be a circuit breaker on it, usually on the back at the bottom, it there is, push it to see if it has tripped.
