Option 1:
Using the NightShot:
1. First Set the POWER Switch to Camera, Slide NIGHTSHOT to ON.
2. The NIGHTSHOT indicators flash on the screen.
3. To cancel the NightShot mode, Slide NIGHTSHOT to OFF.
Option 2:
1. Let us try to reset the Camcorder and check if it helps to resolve the issue.
2. Locate the RESET button behind the LCD screen of the Camcorder.
3. The Camcorder should be switched ON when you reset the unit. Press the RESET button using a sharp-pointed object.
NOTE: Resetting the Camcorder will reset the settings of the Camcorder to the factory settings including date and time. It will not delete any data saved in the Camcorder.
Good Luck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thx so much for trying to help....I have tried doing all of the above but nothing helped....I am assuming there is something really wrong with the camera.
After 4000 attempts at turning NighShot off last night my husband managed to get the nightshot off simply by pressing the button to off. I have no idea why it suddenly responded.
BUT....as soon as he did this the camera started giving an error C:31:23 which the manual tells me is a problem that I can fix myself however I have tried everything and the tape will not play or record or anything.
After this I thought it had something to do with the NightShot so I turned it on again to see if this would solve the problem and ofcourse it didn't. And now NightShot will not turn off again back to square one. Although now I have the two problems :(
