SOURCE: Sanyo plasma 42 TV Turn off for no reason
Ok Fellas I found the Problem!
The Problem is the V4 Y-Main Board.
This board is located on the left side of the case looking upright from
the back. I spoke with may suppliers, and Sanyo all confirming this.
Apparently it has been an issue for some time. Sanyo has replaced the
V4 Y Main board with a W1 Y main board in newer models. The W1 Board is
NOT compatible for us tho. Just to be sure... If your T.V is taken
apart (like mine) Disconnect the peripheral cable from the V4 Y Main,
and turn on the set. I bet it will power up with audio and channel
function just NO picture. When you plug the board back in... POOF set
shuts down. Replacement boards are VERY hard to come by. So Happy
Hunting!

Oh yeah.. just FYI, Sanyo, Phillips, and Samsung all use the same parts. Hopefully that will help your searching.
SOURCE: 50 inch Sanyo Vizon Plasma TV. Has sound but no
This set has LG insides, it will have failed on either the Y-Sustain PCB or the Z-Sustain PCB.
Quite common.
Repair estimates should be $250 - £350 depending on which has failed.
Stick it on eBay, it will fetch good money faulty.
Testimonial: "Thank you for your response. We were driving ourselves nuts - fuzes checked out fine and not other guess where to turn. We appreciate your help!"
SOURCE: sanyo 50 inch plamsa just quit!
Woke up this morning and my 50 in won't turn on. 2 years pld next month:( How to fix?
SOURCE: tv not responding to remote
This may sound silly but does the remote have a funtion button or buttons at the top of the remote? It may be set to operate a DVD or VCR instead of the TV.
Failing that check the batteries, it is very rate that your TV will stop accepting IR signals.
Hope this helps,
Cheers

For what it's worth, you can download the official
Sanyo repair manual for this TV (DP42746) at http://www.eserviceinfo.com/downloadsm/43343/sanyo_dp42746.html.
I uploaded it here when I had some issues with this TV last year.
The solution almost always seems to be to replace the Power
Board and the Upper and Lower Y Buffers. The parts and costs (from Sanyo in
July 2009) are listed below (NOTE: Sanyo will not ship these parts to anyone but
a repair shop):
1. V4 Y-Main (Y-Sustain) Circuit Board (Part #
LJ92-01200A, Alt Part # LJ41-02759A) - USD $139.00
2. Upper Y-Buffer
Circuit Board (Part # LJ92-01202A, Alt Part # LJ41-02760) - USD $64.00
3.
Lower Y-Buffer Circuit Board (Part # LJ92-01203A, Alt Part # LJ41-02761A) - USD
$64.00
Sanyo charges USD $10.50 for shipping, which brings the total cost for
parts to USD $277.50. From my research, a shop would probably charge between
USD $500 and $700 to do this repair.
FYI - there is a class action lawsuit pending against Sanyo for this
issue. The V4 Y-Main (Y-Sustain) Circuit Boards fail VERY frequently in this TV
due to overheating. Hope this helps.
