Large Toner Streak... Bad Imaging Unit?

I just replaced 3 (CYM) imaging units in my Konica 8031 and all ran fine for (200) 11x17 double-sided copies. Then it started printing pages with alot of Cyan toner on edges... I replaced the toner cartridge, and there was alot of toner where the cartridge sets, which I cleaned the best I could.

Now I am getting what started as a 1" and grew to a 4" Cyan band across the bottom of both sides, and there is toner on the imaging unit. Help!! What, if anything, can I do, short of replacing an imaging unit?!?!

    Thanks for a quick reply!!

Then my next question is can I take the chip from this new cyan unit and put it in my old unit? I don't have a new unit here and need it NOW?!?!?

Just want to make sure I understand... or the you can understand 'a bit ignorant' me! I can just put the old unit back in without replacing the chip??

  • typebydesign Sep 13, 2009

I put the old unit back in... the copier went back to telling me to change it soon. Ran a few copies just fine, but again telling me to replace unit.

Meaning I need to switch chips?? I have not done that before... is it difficult? Can you give me any pointers/suggestions?!

Check to see if you waste toner recycling for the cyan is working or being blocked. Check the transfer bias roller next to the cyan drum. Return you cyan imaging unit for a warranty replacement. Check for obstructions to the cyan developing unit. Check that the cyan IU was put into the machine properly. Check for toner leaking from the entrance to the developing unit or from the toner cartridge.

or, call a qualified KonicaMinolta tech to check out and service your machine.

Yes, you can swap the new chip onto the old cyan IU. This is not something I can recommend. But, in a pinch it will get you going. The calibration settings will not be just right, though.

How can i settle the problem of magenta developer finishing so fast. Magenter developer for Konica Minolta Bizhub C550 is getting finished so fast.

If the message Change Imaging Unit Magenta displayed refer to imaging unit with contents a developer. The Imaging unit life is 80.000 copies.
The imaging units located after front door when is located the waste toner box.
If the message M toner end/change the M toner displayed refer to toner cartridge
The toner cartridge life 15.000 copies 5% saturation. In full color mode the color saturation is 80% and the color toner life is 6.000-8.000 copies.
I think your problems is a toner not the developer.

Replaced the K imaging unit. The new unit does not reflect it being replaced on the copier. Consumables screen shows the K unit at empty still.

"K" is refereeing to the black toner not being full.... I would replace the Black toner bottle. The toners do have a chip on them, you may have got a defective one..... Good Luck

Help! My printer is printing text and then leaving like a shadow or very light imprint of that text on other pages. Too, there are a few ink splotches here and there on the various pages. Does the printer...

First, if you have one available swap out the toner cartridge. It is possible on this series for the toner cartridge to cause double imaging. This is especially true if the double imaging is across the entire page. If the double imaging is in more of a streak or line down the page especially on one edge then is it more likely to be a fuser film going bad. You can replace the fusing unit yourself if you want. Just do a google search for HP 4350 fuser unit (going by the picture in your post)
About $150 to $200
If you can find a guy, you can have just the fuser film replaced in your fuser unit at a cost of around $175 for parts and labor.
The most expensive route is to have a service company replace the fuser. They will charge you around $300 parts and labor.
Good Luck and Thank You for using Fixya.

Error code C0F32

This error means Imaging Unit ATDC (automatic toner density control) failure. Open and close the right side door where the imaging unit is. If the code comes back you are going to need Imaging Unit service or possible Imaging Unit replacement. The best option and the cheapest is to locate a new imaging unit and replace it yourself. These units are very easy to change and similar to replaceing a toner cartridge in any laser printer. Just do a search for Di200 Imaging Unit.
Good Luck and Thank You for using Fixya.

Horz. streak approx.3/4 down on each page I print

Sounds like some of the magenta toner is left behind on the drum. The only way to fix it is to get a new cartridge.
