Remove the old battery and clean the cables and battery posts. Hook a battery charger to it and fully charge the battery. If it will not hold a charge or the problem continues, replace the battery as it has shorted or dead cell. After replacing the battery or if the battery appears good and then runs down suspect the alternator is bad. Check the voltage at the battery with the engine running. You should have at least 13.5 volts on a 12 volt system and 7.5 volts on a 6 volt system.

Starter problems, Suggestions???

Starters tend to fail intermittently. Yes, if it started after a "whack", I woul suggest replacing your starter. Make sure all connections are tight and of course clean terminals and cables.

How to check starter system on a John Deere 2355 tractor

Weak battery / Loose or corroded cable to battery or starter . If you can get to starter posts with jumper cable try to jump it if it trurns
over the starter is not the problem. Check all connections as a first step this sounds like a bad connection or weak battery.

Starter won't stop

Sound like your starter solenoid may have got damaged. Jump the solenoid connection to the large starter connection to see if you may have a fault in the ignition.

John deer mower

Possibly just the fuse. But if you say the jumpers WERE positive to positive and neg to neg it shouldnt have been a problem but maybe the pos clamp touched the body. That would have cooked the battery. First check the fuse, if thats ok then connect your neg jumper lead to the chassis of mower to neg of truck and the pos to pos of truck and hold the other end to the large terminal on starter motor. This will bypass everything and only test starter. Engine will spin over if starter motor ok. There will be a strong spark when touching terminal so watch for fire hazard.

I have telstar tx5 ghia 1990 2,2l 4 cilind automatic, power everithing, car is done 240000.yus wont start one mornig doing klik didn t start and couple time kliking alnaser (starter) and i have used cable ...

Hi
Easiest test is to reconnect jumper cables and switch lights on, if these work and no noise AT ALL from starter, NO clicking at all then could be the jumper cables are too light like most are. Try 2 sets of jumper cables. Ensure that the cables are correclty applied, Red to Red and the black is the last connection to a good steel part on your engine, NOT the battery.Always ensure the car being used to jump from is running at all times while cables are connected. When it starts remove this one FIRST also.

Hi

Sounds like your battery, have you had it heavy discharge tested ?

Get the alternator charging rate tested if battery tests OK.

Good Luck !
