Our Yamaha is approx. 4 years old. Wouldn't start the beginning of the season. We purchased a new battery and it worked for two months. Now it just clicks when you try to start it and from sitting for about three weeks, the new battery is dead. Something seems to be drawing the battery down. Charged the battery and it's back to clicking again but nothing happens. What can we try? Thanks.
The Yamaha is an '05. There were two different numbers on the sticker: JF110 DN and 1011045.
The ski will start but top speed is approx. 7 mph. It clicks before starting and has no power. We charged the battery fully and it takes a lot of cranking to turn over at all. Any ideas? Thanks. JimThe Yamaha is an '05. There were two different numbers on the sticker: JF110 DN and 1011045.

Please provide the exact model and year of your wave runner. This is necessary information so an accurate answer can be provided. If you are not sure exactly what model or year, look for the sticker inside the engine bilge area and provide the primary ID number off of that sticker. Also, find the Hull ID number on the black plastic plate on the back of the hull and tell me the last two digits of that number. Open the battery box and jump the terminal posts. If the starter works you have a bad solenoid. If you hold the starter button and tap the starter and the starter spins, you need new starter brushes. If you remove the starter and the coils are burnt, the armature is shorted, or the inside of the starter is wet, replace the starter.
If your have problems with low speed , you have probably suffered impeller damage. Once the tolerances are ruined or the impeller is bent or damaged you wont be able to generate thrust. If your have problems with low speed , you have probably suffered impeller damage. Black plugs indicate carbon build up. Try starting with ether sprayed into carburetor. If it fires, clean fuel system with spray and additive. Use the fuel engine was designed for.
