I can't tell you much about them for two reasons - one is Utilitech isn't a brand I am familiar with and two, there doesn't seem to be much information about them available.

These days with homes being full of computers and computerised gear; fridges, washers, dryers, ovens, tv, etc. are all potential victims of a power surge and so our homes should be filled with surge protection.

Generally the more you pay the better protected your gadgets and appliances will be, though a cheap surge protector has got to be better than no surge protector.

Utilitech produce a range of surge protectors from single power outlet designed to protect a single appliance to a six outlet power outlet adaptor through a number of surge protected extension leads, one designed for the home workshop. I can't say much about the prices but I am guessing they won't be the best money can buy but are likely to be somewhere in the middle.

Testimonial: "I purchased a Utilitech Surge Protector # 0615221 from Lowes which gives 900 joules protection. When I received it the packaging states " For Large Appliances". Is it safe to use on a Dell laptop or only on large appliances ? Thanks in advance for your response"

I am not an electrical engineer but I am guessing it doesn't mean for large appliances only but does mean suitable for large appliances (as well as other applications).
Most large appliances are permanently plugged into an outlet and some are in permanent use (fridges and freezers) and some when used have a high appetite for current (washers and dryers) so the surge protector needs to be robust and continuously rated but that would not mean it shouldn't be used with small appliances or gadgets or whatever it is convenient to plug into it...

Can you please describe this company to me? I am always using surge protectors because I have a lot of stuff that I always need to charge. There are a lot of companies which make them, but not all of them are making quality products. I am interested in this one because I saw on that they are making good products, but I want to hear peoples' experiences. I was using the Xiaomi surge protector till now, but unfortunately, it's already too small and I can't change everything at once, it's working perfectly so if you will like to buy it don't hesitate because you won't regret it.

SOURCE: frigidaire FRA 155MT1 melted the extension cord and surge protector

You must use a heavy duty power cord with this unit as it draws alot of amerage. Most regular extension cords csnnot handle the amperage and overheat or melt.

My stereo just quit on me there was bad weather but it was on one of those power surge cords it is a pioneer stereo fm-am digital synthesizer tuner

If it was plugged into a surge protector, check the surge protector warranty. There are A LOT of surge protectors that will cover damage to items plugged into them through their warranty system. I've had full home computers and TV's replaced by surge protector companies to avoid having a hit to homeowners insurance.

Bobbie, It dose not sound like surge protector was real effective, the TV will have to come apart to diagnose what has all blown, capacitors, boards etc. Google search can help show how it is done.
Enter all your TV's info, will not power on repair.

Belkin how to connect cables to a belkin pureav 4 way surge protector to tv and dvd

This surge protector takes the power cables of the TV and DVD player. In addition, it will take the coax cable in and has a coax cable out for surge protection on your cable provider's incoming cable.

What is the difference between a regular power strip and a surge protector?

A power strip is what's used for plugging in multiple appliances to one outlet. A surge protector is different in that it is designed to prevent electrical surges from too many things plugged in, bad weather or lightening. Usually things like air conditioners with heavy motors are plugged into surge protectors.

After a lightning storm my bosch single 30" wall oven displayed an F03 err. I turned the power supply off at the breaker for one minute as directed by the oven's manual. This action did not...

Find out what the F03 error is for and then check out the appropriate area. If there was a strike of surge the most likely place to look for damage is the area where the electricity first enters into the device.

I have a Toshiba BDX2100 Blu Ray player. I've owned it since October 2010. I've not had any problems with it until a couple of days ago. It won't turn off unless I unplug it, and it only opens...

Do you have the Blu Ray player plugged into a surge protector, sometimes surge protectors can cause odd feedback in certain electronics and cause them to be buggy. If this is the case, take it off the surge protector and plug it straight into the wall and see if that fixes the problem. If this isn't the case or doesn't solve the problem there could be a number of reasons this is happening, there could have been a surge that fried some internal components causing the player to not function correctly, or it could have just had a hardware malfunction. If this doesn't help I would recommend calling the manufacturer of the player to see if they can provide you with additional info

Power surge hit my surge protector with my 'sony tv hooked to it.

Well, the power supply may be still damaged by the surge, what may happen is that when first surge happens the surge protector protect your TV by sacrifing itself but then the second surge comes along, since the protector already blown up then the surge will just come right through to the TV on the second surge. That is bad problem for the surge protector that sacrify itself but can only do it for ONE time.

When plugged, it shorts the surge protector and outlets.

I noticed that my refrigerator, kenmore freezer2_bing.gif, and stove were all not on. This has not ever been a problem before, so I unplugged the surge protector and reset the outlet. I then plugged the refrigerator2_bing.gif and the kenmore freezer to the surge protector and I noticed when I plugged the kenmore freezer it just shorted the surge protector. I then just plugged in the refrigerator and oven to the surge protector with no problems. I tried to plug kenmore freezer to other outlet and same result "a short
