Check that the paper path is clear.
Check that the paper is dry.
Check that the paper pick ups and rollers are clear of any debris - Power off the machine at the mains and brush them with a damp cloth or brush and maybe vacuum out the entire area to remove all dust etc.
Make sure that you fan out the paper before inserting it into the tray and that the tray is not over full as this will prevent the paper being collected successfully. Try running with half a tray full instead of a full or near empty tray.

This should resolve your problem.

When making copies, auto document feeder picks up paper and rollers squeal but paper gets stuck on underside. If you lift the lid about an inch the paper will feed through. HP Model L7780

open the top cover, on the very left there is a part that can be removed (running front to back) I believe you will see a scrap of paper iunder there. remove the paper, replace the part and try again

The document feeded is not pulling the paper. What should I do? Do you have this part for sale? How much?

Is this happening on TOP Feeder or Actual Paper Tray..

Turn off the printer
Remove the TOP ADF Cover and Clean the Rollers with lint free cloth
Remove the Rear Access door and clean the Rollers

Close the Doors and turn on the printer.

The auto-document feeder on our HP L7780 OfficeJet Pro printer doesn't pick up the papers anymore. The 'gears' are spinning, but the papers aren't advancing. I've cleaned the rollers, but that still didn't...

I put an elastic band around the black roller as it doesnt seem big enough and it works nearly every time now. Have done this with another L7780 Pro as well which fixed it completely on that one.

Paper Size Error: The specified custom paper size is not supported in the selected tray. I have a Hp Officejet pro L7780 All in one. I checked the default printer and paper handling and it all says letter...

1. Press the OK button to bring you back.
2. Press the menu button repeatedly until paper size comes up
3. Use arrows to change paper size from automatic to whatever size you are looking for.
4. Start Copy

This worked for the HP Officejet 7210 All in one

Tray 2 Printing

Hi,

Couple of things for you to check out.

1. Is that you've enabled the second tray for the printer. This is normally automatic but to check go to:
START > Printers > L7780 > Properties
- Click the "Device Settings" tab
... then sort out the different setting so they are all correct such as paper size and of course "Tray 2: Installed"

2. The other more common issue is simply that the printer isn't sitting properly on top of Tray 2 and as a result it's not engaging the cog wheel properly to pick up paper.

This is one of those trial and error things where you pick up the printer and re-slot it down onto Tray 2 until it works properly.

Hope that helps...

Paper jam up in top of printer Tray one wadded badly -

Try using the cardboard backing of a large writing tablet by sticking it down into the tray where the paper goes. If there is a small piece of paper there, it will be pushed out.

L7780 won't print on edge of paper

it could be the printer settings. Before you actually print something go to File>print:- and then choose properties, click on advanced and ensure that the correct paper and size is set to how you want it.
