All 8 new ink cartridges, new MT tank, nothing prints. it goes thru the motions of rinting, but no little to no ink is on paper, less and less ink each subsequent print. Most recent print has a hint of yelloow, no other colors printed. head cleaning and power cleaning did not change anything. No error messages. Ink monitor says I have plenty of ink. so,.... why doesn't any of it land on the paper?

I just had this exact problem on my HP 5514. Black won't print after running out of black ink. New cartridge no good.
I tried everything-no good. I suspected the pinholes in the printhead were clogged with dried ink because I didn't change cartridge in time.
The fix that worked perfectly was when I hacksaw top off old black cartridge & removed all foam wicks so now I had a funnel(can see clear thru). I installed the cartridge & filled it with alcohol, printed page & did head clean; then printed few more pages. Problem cleared almost immediately. I then soaked up extra alcohol inside cartridge with paper towel. Removed modified cartridge & installed good one. I guess this could be done for colors as well. I don't know if this is a proper procedure, but it sure worked well for me.

The Ink at the head of your Printer Cartridges has dried up.
Try this:

Load some plain paper in the printer

Remove the cartridges from the printer and carefully dab the print heads of the cartridges with a damp paper towel. ( when you start to see ink, the ink is starting to flow).

Replace the cartridges into the printer.

Go to:

Control Panel
Printers
RIGHT click on this printer
choose Printing preferences
services
clean print cartridges 9some papers may print)
follow the instructions and do the heavier cleaning as well

Run the calibration function and allow the paper to print.

If the printer has not been used for a while the catridges my have dried ink on them. Sometimes you can get them to work if you touch an alcohol wipe to the cartridge where the ink comes out. note: only touch the wipe to the cartridge for a second or two each time. I would try this for about 3 or 4 times to see if the ink will come out. Put the cartridge back in after each try to see if it works. The other option is to replace the cartridges.

your print head is either clogged or damaged, A print head is the unit your ink cartriges sit in. If its a nedw or newer printer (under warranty) you can contact the manufacturer and they will send you a new print head at little to no cost-good luck

Nothing at all? Poor you are. The pump may damage or lost electricity.

Did you remove the little sticky tabs from each new cartridge? They allow air in, and ink out.

did you tried to set the properties to mono ?

the ink nozzles on the cartridges are clogged. first try cleaning them using a alcohol-soaked Q-tip against the shiny part where ink comes out (remove cartridges first). if still no ink, cartridges may be out of ink, so either replace or re-fill them.
