It is working.

Tested first with one new module with 2GB RAM, then with 2 modules, 2GB (new) + 1GB (original). Post and Windows are showing 3GB.
The HP 530 notebook is working OK.

Hi

RAM installed 512 MB Max supported RAM 2 GB RAM technology DDR2 - for laptops

so 3 and 4gb are out of the question.

The hard drive is a SATA - 2.5" laptop hard drive, the 320 should work in my opinion but I can't guarantee it 100%, you may want to take it to a local professional that can first test the 320 drive on the laptop before you purchase it. if it doesn't work buy a smaller drive.

the 320gb drive wont affect performance much, it will give you more room for your files.

the memory upgrade to 2GB will help ALOT.

To make sure I told you the right stuff I wen't and got the service manual for the laptop, I see that the Intel Core Solo T1400 1.83-GHz processor which I assume your laptop now has is the best available, but since this document is few years old(2007) a newer cpu may work.

Also what it says on memory it says:

    Memory modules (667-MHz, PC2-5300, 1-DIMM) maximum for 1 slot - 1024-MB

Hard drive part lists 120GB hard drive has bigest available well again as a old document there may not have been bigger ones available, will probably work with a bigger one.

if you need help in replacing the hard drive or memory yourself this service document will help you
    http://bizsupport2.austin.hp.com/bc/docs...

page number 36 on pdf reader tells about memory replacement.

HP website does offer a BIOS update that may help the laptop to work with newer CPU's, Hard drives. But I think its unlikely to help on the memory.

I also went and looked up the Mobile Intel® 945 Express Chipset

    System Memory Support
    • Supports single-/dual-channel DDR2 SDRAM
    • Maximum Memory supported: up to 4 GB at 400, 533 and 667 MHz
    • 64-bit wide per channel
    • Three Memory Channel Configurations supported:
    — Single-Channel
    — Dual-Channel Symmetric
    — Dual-Channel Asymmetric

At this point I don't know who to trust, Try a 2GB module see if it works, if it doesn't then go with 1GB modules.

My hp530 wont charge morethan 60% what can i do to fix it

If the laptop battery is more than 3 - 4 years old then the battery could be worn out. Rechargeable batteries have a finite number of charge and discharge cycles and will lose their charge capacity over time, i.e. won't charge to 100% and gradually the charge reduces until the battery won't charge up at all. OR The battery shows a 100% charge but when the adapter is disconnected the battery drops off to zero capacity in a very short time. If the battery drops to an unacceptable charge level then the battery needs to be replaced. Rechargeable batteries will fail if stored in a discharged state for long periods.

Wnnt to upgrade my memory on my HP530 laptop but can only fine one memory slot under the bottom of the computer where is the other one?

They are both on the bottom and stacked on top of each other. It comes with only 1 512MB normally. You should be able to add another one or replace both with 1gb. You tube has a good guide to doing his search youtube for

Hp530 turn off suddenly

Get a power charging adaptor from HP (if a smart adaptor) or a generic anywhere that matches your spec. Your device is doing what mine did, but in addition mine beeped softly as a warning of failure. Being a smart adaptor, I had to order one from HP, a generic won't work.
