My tv wont turn on it just clicks on then off really fast. I have a sony trinitron, PLEASE HELP

I'm trying to turn it on by the tv itself, dont have a remote for it yet. The standby/timer flashes red. Just wont turn on at all. Thank you

A trinitron switch ... How are you turning it on, with a remote control or a switch on the tv itself?

I have an old CRT monitor built on trinitron type technology - the switch that I press has been sort of broken for years. I moved the monitor once and the switch worked for a while, then stopped again. If I get the monitor at the right angle I can get the switch to work. Not so easy for a TV.

You might have the problem that brotherhoodc has suggested. So, perhaps the best option is to get it repaired either way.

Your tv is going into protection mode. It can only be repaired by a tv repairman. The problem is normally the power supply or line out put satge.

Try pushing the channel button. If the set still flashes red and does not come on, it means that the set is in protection. This could mean a fault in any one of the stages. ie Frame output, line stage, audio stage and power stage.

Sony trinitron 36" has 7 red blinks wont turn on

I HAVE A SONY TRINITRON KV-36HS510. Tv turned off wont come back on standby light keeps flashing in intervals of five

not starting or turning on and making click sound! just change the capacitor c600 with 0.1mf on the board.check manual for it.i tried it and its working and i am whatchin my sony trinitron again.

My tv wont turn on.it sounds like its going to but

The 7 blinks are an error indication that is generated by protection circuitry inside the set. A problem has been detected and the set is shutdown to prevent further damage. The cilnking is the power relay that is attempting to turn on the set. I'll look up the eror code and update this with the likely solution later today.

Tv wont turn on only clicks and then flashes red timer light

tv wont turn on when i hit power it makes the clicking noise like it is going to turn on, but never does and the red timer light next to the power button just flashes.
