There are a couple of common problems this model has--one is easy to confirm.
How handy are you if I tell you to disconnect the convergence board to see if it is your problem?
The blinking blue light means the set is in protective shutdown, and I know a fairly easy way to see if it is your problem and how to fix the set if it is.
Let me know if you need help--I am here to help people and l know a lot about this set.
Your description does not tell me very much---You have a JVC AV-56WP74 and it does not work?
If the power light up front which is usually blue in color just blinks I can tell you a easy way to know exactly what is causing this problem.
If when you turn the set on the blue power light just blinks---that is short protection--most of the time a fairly cheap fix----LET ME KNOW WHAT YOU ACTUALLY HAVE GOING ON.
You need to replace the power supply board. The new ones have a bigger heat sink - obviously JVC knows about the problem because they made the new ones bigger. It cost $250 from JVC and I installed it myself - took about 3 hours to do. If you are not tech savvy call a repairman. Hope this helps.
Could be shorted convergence chips. There are two of them in the TV. If they short they will shut the TV down. One quick test is to desolder both of them...then power the TV on..if it fires up the chips were shorted and would need to be replaced. You can get a complete kit from www.TvRepairKits.com
you can get the service manual at the following link and they will help you diagnose what the problem is. Heres the link http://servicemanuals.vstore.ca/
Check the coils on the main board. Coils mean round ferrite donuts (1
inch or less) with copper wires on it. I have seen this come out. if not check convergence amp ic's http://home.earthlink.net/~oleg.filippov/ConvergenceFix.htm http://cmpalmer.blogspot.com/2006/11/fixing-my-own-tv-part-ii.html
Your power transformer is likely shot. It'll cost at least $200 to have it replaced. Someone can come to your house to diagnose it. Usually costs around $65.
