I have the same problem listed in this post.
I tried to follow your steps listed above and it all goes well until "5. Hit the "3" button - this will bring up the Eprom Clear"
When I hit the "3" button it says Please wait and then "3: Print - [1] - [9]

Your help is the best so far, and it seems like MANY people have this problem so I'd sure appreciate your further attention.

    Thank you.

Print head will not move at all but i can slide it back and forth by hand. and the alarm light flashes and the srceen reads check printer press resume key

This will either be a problem with the printhead drive motor, the ribbon cable going to the printhead, or even worse...a problem with the circuit boards inside the printer. It will need to go into the shop for repair.

Horrible grinding noise

The problem sounds like a broken or stripped gear in the printer. If the unit is under warranty I would contact the authorized repair station for that printer in your local area.

Check printer & alarm flashing.I cannot get it to reset.

Electric connection terminals scratched? Maybe short circuit. Use warranty from purchase for repair.

Canon mp-730 print head does not move

it seems you open or unscrew the printer.
this may happen if the mother board has no nigative pole.
you have to reset the mother borad.
cannot do that from the available options
the reseting procedure is to take the motherboard out and you have to shortcut the battary for 10 seconds.
re install it , and try it

Alarm light on. F80

This worked for me on an F60 and someone else on an F30. Re: Check Printer error message on Canon MultiPass by watsonk (6/7/05 11:16 PM) reply + / - It could be due to "waste tank full" alarm; you may need to reset the waste tank counter. I found a reset sequence for a MP730 printer in this website that works for F30 as well. Try: Resetting the Waste Ink Volume Counter 1) Enter SERVICE MODE.--- By pressing Menu-Copy-# 2) Select TEST MODE. 3) Select [8] PRINTER TEST in TEST MODE. 4) Select 3. [EEPROM CLEAR]. 5) Select 0. [INK COUNT]. 6) Press the [OK] key. 7) Press the [Stop/Reset] key (returning to the state of 3)), and then press the [ON/OFF] key. Skip step (6) since there is no [OK] key on F30 printers.
