first off my PC has 4 browsers.
all 4 different answer.
IE11 ( or OMG 1 to 10 )

Chrome.
Firfox v95 (click tab book marks then click manage BM, the right click any or all you see and delete.

Depends on the web browser.
Internet Explorer keeps them in a "Favorites" folder in your documents. You can go in there and just delete them.

Chrome - go to the menu, click "Bookmarks" and "Bookmark Manager."

Firefox, Ctrl-Shift-B will open up a bookmarks window that will let you manage your bookmarks.

Or, in most, if you open up the bookmarks window, you can right click on and delete the bookmark right there.

Try to login with your gmail account. Or open your gmail account which you always use. Some time it will recover back your bookmarks

Use the Manage Bookmarks (Firefox) or Organize Favorites (IE). A panel opens listing all your favorite bookmarks. Select 1 or a few (use the CTRL key and keep it pressed to select), then press the Delete button. Confirm the deletion. Move on to other favorites.
To add a bookmark/favorite: Open the page you want and press CTRL D. Give the bookmark a name or leave the default one and press OK. later on, when many favorites are added, you can use the procedure above Manage/Organize to open the panel, Create new folders, move bookmarks around. Close when finished.

You Said you were Using Chrome, Click the OPERA Button in upper left corner. The dropdown menu has Bookmarks. Point to that and then click on the dropdown menu Manage Bookmarks.

I saw over years there is still an issue about the import from HTML bookmarks after years with all different options but 1 easy way only to watch this little example i have made so every body can find that the HTML file can be find by a little trick (only the name of the filtering to find html must be cleaned the way you can watch all filestypes in the map and then choose the right bookmarks export.html file format.

what procedure did you follow when transferring your bookmarks?

In Firefox Select Bookmarks > Organize Bookmarks...
In the Bookmarks Manager select File > Import... and locate the saved bookmarks.html file and attempt to load them up again).

On firefox u would just click Bookmarks, then "Organize Bookmarks". When the pop up window shows up select the one you want to delete- (Control+click to select) and say "delete" or
on internet explorer u would just click bookimarks with the arrow going down and click manage bookmarks and next to the bookmarks..it sez edit or remove and u click remove...if u wanna delete all then go to the side of the page under bookmarks and click delete all

Please uninstall google toolbar and then check. it should work.
you can install it again if required.
