You can't download Microsoft office for free - you have to pay for it. A great alternative is "open office". It's fully compatible with all office applications.

Free to me would mean a full version of a program - not something that packs it in after 60 days (or whatever the trial version lasts for) leaving you with a bunch of documents/files you can't do anything with.
I know there are places you can download Office for free - but I am sure that they would not be welcome in this forum....
I think it's kind of misleading to say that a trial version is "free" software. I guess technically it is - until it isn't.
