Take the memory card out of the camera and look at it. SD cards have a slide switch along one edge. The position farthest from the contacts locks the card, protecting it from writes. The position nearest the contacts unlocks the card. If the switch is already in the proper position, slide it fully the other way and then back again.
I don't know if you are aware of an SD card having a protection lock on the side I'll give you a diagram for the proper positioning of this little switch. Also adding that all "New" memory cards need to be formatted to the camera they are being used in. Formatting prepares the surface to properly accept new picture files from your camera also after each download the memory card needs formatting. I'm talking formatting not the delete or delete all buttons, formatting option should be found in your camera set up menus, takes only a few seconds and you are good to go. Switch Lock Diagram
Cards are coming in different formats and it might be possible that you brought a card which is not suitable or functional with your camera. The other reason could be that we are having options to lock our memory card in digital camera and you might have taken out your earlier card without unlocking it. The system might be broken from inside and this could be a reason that you are still getting a message that memory card is locked. It seems possible based on problem you are sharing.
Hi there follow the steps below.
1. Remove the card from the camera.
2. Make sure the card is unlocked. That lock key
present in side of the memory card.
3. fix it back in camera.
4. format the card from the camera. You can get the
option for format from camera settings pressing
after menu key.
5. After finish the format, restart the camera.
6. Now you can see that message has gone & its
start working. If you face the same problem then
the memory card is damaged or the camera card
reader is damaged. I hope you will not faced those
problems. Please let me know the result. If you
want to know more then ask me again .Thanks.
If camera show Memory Card Error, Check whether the card is inserted properly or not. For SD card, check out the card lock switch is in the correct position and not stuck in between.
You can Format the memory card in the camera using the Setup Menu option (Format). Please be aware that formatting the memory card will remove any images currently stored on the card along with any other data.
If after formatting the card do not clear the error, try another memory card. If this occurs with only the one card it is likely that the memory card is defective, if the error persists over more than one card the camera may require service.
Rating the solution is highly appriciated...Good Luck

Take out memory card from camera, turn it On and check does it show format error? If yes, press Home, Memory option and format internal memory. If camera does not show format error then put back memory card in and press Home, Memory card option and format it. This will delete all files/ data and will refresh memory card, take some pictures and check. If after formatting, still format error exist, put new memory card.
The card needs to be formatted in the camera, not on the computer. Try going into the camera menu and find "reset"...follow the on-screen instructions.
