Dev. Home error can be fixed by stretching out a solenoid spring on the power cord side of the printer. The solenoid acts as a clutch to stop the spinning developer actuator at the right spot.

The problem is that the spring gets weak over time / the cogs round out over time and the solenoid finger is overcome by the spinning cogs, and resulting in selecting the wrong developer.

Open up the right side (power cord side) of the printer (take off top cover, then take off side cover). Then, find a solenoid (little metal square) that touches the white plastic vertical spur gear. Take the spring off the solenoid. Now, put the spring back on - only this time you will attach one anchor point to the middle of the spring as to pre-stretch the spring for more tension.

many thanks, the problem is o.k

many thanks, I'd never have guessed what to do. changed a **** printer that failed after 300 pages to something usable. CLX-2160. remove small top back panel (2 screws at top) and 3 screws holding side panel. ease off panel. shorten spring by ~40% wind it once round the peg clockwise and under itself to stop it coming off.

For a year after we bought one of these, at the original retail price, it worked great. At just about a year, this sensor error popped up. We have had a really large scanner basically for a long time now. You must have posted this shortly after my last effort to get the thing working.

For whatever reason, tonight I felt like checking the web for another answer and found this. Within 20 minutes, we had a working printer again! Thank you so much for posting this solution.

YES!!!!! This finally helped me to find the problem. I put the printer apart, got mad, did it over a few weeks later this summer, got mad again! This printer is so cheap, I keep reading about "young" printers already broken.
Thank you so much for this beautiful flaw spotting. Just need to find the right new spring; mine is out.

Non-working printer; no paper pickup

The solution shown for the Samsung CLX-3160FN All-In-One works also for the Samsung CLX-2160N.
The associated picture and methodology of "pre-stretching" the solenoid spring is virtually identical for both printers.
Worked for me on the CLX-2160N

Deve home sensor error

You could try replacing the Image Unit (but these are quite expensive). This error actually refers to an optical sensor located in the gearbox (RHS of machine). The sensor controls the drive to the individual dev units, hence the "dev home error" if it malfunctions.
Probably a job for an engineer.....

Deve Home sensor Error as occur cannot get printer to work

The web does not offer alot on this error. However the users manual indicates it is a fuser issue. Try a new maintenance kit. That should include the fuser and all rollers.
