Many times you will see a small hole next to drawer, try something thin lika a paperclip & give a gentle poke inside. Feel for a button type spring response.

on the left side of the front pannel just under the drawer you will see a pinhole.turn your cd unit upside down and insert a straightened paperclip in the hole keeping it straight as possible,the drawer should open enough to allow you to grip it .
if no luck you will have to remove the case top and manually remove the disc..

if the items your trying to write show a curved arrow, its indicating that your attempting to write from a shortcut location. right click on the shortcut file and left click on properties. this will reveal the actual location of the source folder and then you can select to burn from there.

Look for the small hole on the faceplate of the CD or DVD drive. This is the manual release. Straighten the paperclip and insert it into the manual release hole until resistance is felt.

Once the resistance is felt, keep pushing the paper clip until the drawer opens a little.

Remove the paper clip and gently pull out the drawer until the disc is accessible.

Select CONTROL PANEL
Select SYSTEM
Select DEVICE MANAGER
(This will show you all your computer's hardware and peripherals)
Locate your CD/DVD "DVD/CD-ROM DRIVES"
Not listed?-Defective or no power. (If you can get drawer to open and close by pressing button, you know it has power.)
Listed? right click it, select PROPERTIES
(Yellow triangle indicates error)
First tab GENERAL shows if it is working properly.
Then click on DRIVER tab to see if you just need to update the driver, or roll back to a previous driver.
