My car charger fuse was lost. Charger says 1 amp and manual says 3 amp. Question: What is the exact fuse # and size for this car charger. Is it glass or ceramic.
The Garmin Chargers use a 1A 5x20mm glass fuse in the tip.
The DC output of the charger is +5VDC @ 1A. The 1A rating is the max rating and your Nuvi should draw less than 1A under normal conditions.
You would not want to put a 3A in there because if there is a short in the Nuvi, you want the fuse to blow quickly. A 3A fuse is too high in value.

The Fuse that worked for my Nuvi 1300 was a Bussman BP/GMA1A or GMA-1A available at Home Depot. Went to an Auto Store originally, but theirs were slightly larger diameter.
In my unit, the fuse appears to be metric, which is slightly smaller than some American std fuses (5mm vs 1/4 inch). The GMA-1A is the smaller metric diameter and works like a champ.

I had a problem with the charger not working. Turns out that the tip came unscrewed and the fuse fell out. I found all the bits, put it back together and viola!!! GPS works again!!!
