I am having a spot of trouble with my dads Gallant 2.5 Autoi, 2001. It ha s a Gemeni Alarm fitted and has never given trouble up to now. The car will sometimes alarm properly and on other times will not. On some occasions when the car is been alarmed five bleeps sign instead of the normal thre. Does this tell you anythink?
We have tried re-setting the alarm, checking the doors the windows, everything. Is there something that we are missing.
I would be very grateful if you could discover my problem or at least get the drawings of the alarm. Anytime I seek the diagrams, it is in a foreign language. So we are lost here also.

Great reply from our computer guru Larry. Let's put is down here. If it is a factory system, hook up a scanner and look for codes. If the original factory system, look up 'dodge durango security system relearn', but it could be many things. A friend of mine had a third party system with remote starter, he burned out the starter motor twice!

using what kind of key , the factory key or is this alarm after market . not from DODGE>
not told at all these key facts
did this car start ok for the last year/
owned car from new
did you lose keys for this car from 1999 to now?>
did you have the alarm go off ever before and then reset it with the proper key?
did you add and alarm to that the car
only dodge can look up you VIN and see if it has a factory alarm (yes= only that key works
if not factor alarm on a locksmith or ASE pro mechanic can fix this, lacking correct keys.
do you have all keys sets in hand from car sold new? yes/no?
i bet IDK, I dont know to all. so call for service.
there are 1000 of aftermarket Alarms made (3rd party) that no 2 are the same
so if not a keyless dodge factory alarm that is huge problem.
for anyone.
best is a car rated lock smith they can do most cars.
I have in fact removed may 3rd party alarms from cars so the car runs right like it was new.
many alarms installed (not dodge) are are shabby mess even done wrong
I remove them. and same with nasty remote start HACKS. (kits)
I have stories of horror here endless, I will stop now. (one car caught fire, wired wrong by derps)

first time the alarm tripped EVER.
and you with wrong or missing proper keys?
if factory remote security only right key works?
alarms on cars are complex, some a crazy complex (marriage for parts rule, super complex)
what you have there is ANYONES guess
ask the dealer if it has factory alarm and give him /her the VIN

The problem seems to be the key fob on these alarms goes out of sink with the alarm unit (thats if you have changed the battery and its not responding), but 7200/7300 have the ability to "self learn" the new frequency your key fob has changed to .I dont know why they change frequency but they do.I have had to do this a few times myself. if you have a manual for this alarm it tells you how to do it in there but you will need the round key that comes with the alarm that fits in the top of the alarm unit (siren). Anyway to do it : 1.using the key switch alarm off. 2. switch on again. 3. turn ignition for 1 second then off. 4. push the key fob.within 30 secs. 5. switch dim dip (6) back to off. if it dosent work repeat.(dim dips are in the siren where the wire goes in) and if the alarm goes of while your doing it dont worry but just try and be quick. thatcham alarms were only fitted by dealers as aftermarket items for 10%off insurance premiums discount although this discount was stopped soon after they found out that thatcham alarms were causing lots of trouble with cars being immobilised for no reason and found to be unfixable by VW dealers.....you only have the factory standard alarm,unless YOU have a certificate showing that one was fitted.(insurance companies ask this question so that if you have an accident and you said yes,they can kick your claim into touch.....believe me any excuse.....)

Hi , to check if you vehicle has an alarm installed open one of the windows , close the doors and remote lock the vehicle , wait for approx 15 seconds then wave your arm insid the car through the open window and see if the alarm sounds , even without the alarm , you car would be fitted with an imobilser as standard , regards mark
Take it to a garage and have them check the starter motor, alternator and battery. This problem sounds like it could be a seized starter motor but it could be a dead battery.
