Microwave sparked out now it does not work

I have a Sharp micro/convection oven above the stove. I tried to heat up
some food when the microwave sparked inside. All the fans and motors seem to be working but food is not heating up. What could it be?

You had something metal inside the microwave. Do you have a rack inside on a revolving tray? On my microwave, if the foot of the wire rack is not on the revolving tray, it will spark against the floor of the oven. Microwave will go around round pieces of metal - it will spark if it finds a flat surface. I dont think you did any damage to your machine but try to not do this again.

I hope this helps you.

I have a sharp over the range convection microwave modelr-1874F The convection works but the microwave sounds like it working, the turntable turns but it does not heat the food we tried unplugging it for...

Every time the microwave part of an oven do not heat it normaly means a faulty MAGNETRON (the device that produces microwves) unfortunately if it's the magnetron they are allmost as expensive as the oven it self, you could allways check for a burned fuse, (allways be prudent opening an applyance)

Good luck!

When we start it does not heat up the food.

If it doesn't make any loud noise when it turns on check the micro switchs on the door
one is not operating and is putting the microwave in the safe mode. It thinks the door is open.
at 6 bucks each change them all. just use the right ones at the 3 different locations.they come out of. No power and do one at a time and remove the micro holder from the microwave it's easyer to work on. Take note to the McDs microwave behind me....

Sharp R-1871 microwave/convection oven. Microwave will not work

This may be due to the microwave section not working. Check the high voltage diode if it is ok, replace the Magneton.

Microwave made a loud pop, won't heat, sounds like it's only on half power, makes a low intermittent hum

This is almost certainly a blown high voltage diode.
