Tivo DirecTV Remote-Program AKAI LCT2721AD

Hi. Trying to program AKAI LCT2721AD with Tivo DirecTV Remote control. Codes given on DirecTV setup menu are not working (also tried Samsung codes).

Receiver is Series 2 R52180 (DVR R10).

Any direction would be lovely as other forums have turned up empty :(

Try this: On the Tivo remote press and hold the TV Power button and the Directv/TIVO button at the same time. Hold both buttons down for about 4 seconds or until remote light stays red. Then press the channel up button until the tv turns off. You may press the button over 100 times. You need to go slow. When the TV turns off press the enter button (or select button).

Fwiw, on a Charter/Motorola DVR, the remote code that worked with the Akai LCT2721AD is "11675". Not only controlled the TV but also the integrated DVD player. I saw in another forum that the same code works with DirecTV.

Here are the steps to program your TIVO Direct TV RC65 Remote Control:

  1. Locate the 5-digit code for your DIRECTV® Receiver. (See Users Manual)
  2. Power on the DIRECTV Receiver.
  3. Slide the MODE switch to the DIRECTV position.
  4. Press and hold the MUTE and SELECT keys until the green light under the DIRECTV position flashes twice, then release both keys.
  5. Using the number keys, enter the 5-digit code. If performed correctly, the green light under the DIRECTV position flashes twice.
  6. Aim the remote at your DIRECTV Receiver and press the PWR key once. The DIRECTV Receiver should turn off; if it does not, repeat steps 3 and 4, trying each code for your brand until you find the correct code.
Your TIVO DirectTV RC65 remote control is now setup to control your DVR. A digital copy of your remote's owners manual is available here.

I would like to program my remote to work my tivo.
If you go to the options menu on the directv, it will give you the proper codes to fix this problem. Also any components you have will always come with a manual that will have a code so you can use a universal remote.
